in today's society? Good Lord, I'm sitting here listening to Dave, and this lady's husband forged her signature to get a credit card. He thinks it's ok to go around doing this non-sense. Let's see, last time I checked that was a federal offense. This call is unbelievable, go listen:

(9-30-2003 , Fast forward to 1 hour and 55 minutes into the program)
Earlier, a 29 yo lady called in and said her husband wanted to end their marriage because he didn't think it was working out. They had 2 kids together.
What is wrong with people in today's society? Do they not have any kind of upbringing? Any kind of sense of right/wrong or moral/immoral or legal/illegal? Whatever happened to sticking things out through thick and thin? Amazing. I'm disgusted by such juvenile behaviour.

Still nothing
happening today. wow. that's a first.
Lunch was good. Had a bacon spud. Christina was like, "haven't seen you in a while" and I'm like, "yeah it's been a while." I can't even recall the last time I was there.. it's been like almost 3 weeks I think.
Right now I'm listening to Dave Ramsey online. Gonna head to the house in little while since things are slow here.

Wooooooooooooooooooooooooo I can get to Glenn Beck's show again online!
Man I was like going thru withdrawals here in the mornings, because I couldn't listen.

Is anything going on anywhere? Nothing here. I'm just surfin', kickin' back, and watching the stock market go down quicker than Monica did on Bill. I'm not even sure what that means. ROFLMAO
Anyways, Today is Tuesday, and we've got 3 more days till the weekend! I'm already like eager with anticipation as to what all is going to occur.
Did you guys hear about the press release Britney's father made? LOL Wow. Rock On.

I recall a time, when I was actually totally into engineering. I use to be a pretty heavy contributer to RP-ML (Rapid Prototyping Mailing List). I was searching google this morning for my name, and came across this post I made back on June 18, 1998.

I miss those days. Hopefully, I'll be able to get back into it... I
It's amazing, how in a span of only 5 years, I've lost so much. I don't really like this whole 'being in the valley'. I definately much preferred being at the top of the mountain.

1 year anniversary is coming up
I'm kickin' back, surfin', listening to Dave Ramsey.... it's been almost 1 year since I decided not to use credit cards. Wow. I've made it. If I can make it without credit cards, you can too!
It's really awesome, not having to deal with paying off Discover and Master Card every month.
It's actually quite simple now. Just have to think ahead a little and budget accordingly. I'm finding I now make wiser and more informed purchasing decisions. I am able to save for emergencies and for retirement more effectively. It's fantastic!
More and more of my friends are 'getting out' of credit cards and going to cash/debit card only. My friends, this is the way to go. It's the way of the future! No more credit cards!

More Stuff
Lunch was good today. Scott said he finally talked to Kelly about 'the incident' several weeks ago. LOL Apparently Mark and Greg had already warned her that he knew she had been talking about him. That was hilarious.
Shane called me, 3 times, during lunch, and we got the Hartselle High band gig the weekend of Oct 11th, so I can't go to the beach that weekend. Maybe the following weekend.
That's about it for now. Gotta get back to work.

Excellent Morning
The meeting this morning went well. I had no issues or anything to discuss so I was like, "All is good here."
Came back to the office down here, and was going to try and order the Adobe Web Collection again, after it choked 2x yesterday on adobe.com. I go in there, and they have released all new software called "CS Editions, Creative Suite"... which is probably why I couldn't get my order to go thru yesterday.
Nonetheless, the package I want has gone from $999 up to $1,299. It will start shipping at the end of Nov, so now I have to wait another 30 days. I guess that's not too bad, seeing as how I've waited about a year already.
I have been thoroughly pleased with GoLive 6, Illustrator 10 and Phothosop 6, can't wait to get my hands on these new releases!

Wife Material
wow I just sitting here thumbing thru today's USA Today and ran across this article on Katie Brown who has a show on A&E. Wow... she appears to be a cutie, thrifty, creative, and peppy. I like that.
Not to mention she has a 3,500 sq ft loft in New York City! LOL

MIracles happen
My friends just sold their house... for cash. That's pretty cool. It was on the market for 10 days.
In other news, I just got back from my now daily routine of the afternoon ice cream treat from Chic-Fil-A. Oh man that was tasty.

Will
Do you guys have a will made out? I think I may go see about having one made later today. Kinda weird to be thinking about that at my age, but I like to be prepared for all possible scenarios.
The reason it's important to save and invest wisely. I just heard a call on Dave from a man, whose father is dying of cancer. The docs said he has like a week to live. This father has managed to amass over $4 million in investments and is going to leave it to his son?... they are unclear of the will and estate plan though.
In today's society, things related to death and money are really complex, and if you don't handle your estate planning just right, the state and govt will get all your assets, leaving the family with nothing.
I went through this with my parents 3 or 4 years ago when they did their will. Believe me, there are a lot of hoops to jump through. So, I think that's the order of busienss for this weekend.

Great parents
Every year about this time, my parents ask me what I want for Christmas. Every year for the past 3 years, I've said the same thing. "I don't want anything for Christmas."
Material possessions just don't hold the same weight they did when I was younger. I actually already own everything I could ever want, and then some.
Would it be nice to have a DVD player? sure
Would it be nice to have satellite TV? sure
Would it be nice to have a new computer? sure
Would it be nice to have an Alesis HD24 and Berehinger 24x8 mixer with a meterbridge? sure
Would it be nice to have an Infiniti G35 coupe? sure
Do I need any of that stuff? No
Do I really want any of that stuff? No

News and Business
I heard on the 8 AM news that Robert Palmer had died of a heart attack. That's sad. Seems like all the good 'ol old timers are leaving us lately... John Ritter, Johnny Cash... now Robert. Who shall be next?
I forgot to mention, I had an interesting discussion with Tommy yesterday. He was talking about the satisfaction he gets when he sells something as simple as a pack of strings, where as, at the old place, it was just a sale. That's pretty amazing. You couple that with the survey I reported on from USA Today, yesterday, and I am confident I know what my destiny is.
Unfortunately, I need to put in at least 2 more years here for a variety of reasons.
(1) Free medical insurance
(2) I need a slightly bigger chunk of change before the house deal can happen.
(3) In 2 years, I will have reached the 5 year mark, and will be 100% vested in the company pension plan. IE More free money. This assumes the company stays in business, which actually may not happen.
(4) The 2004 video season is going to be "the true" test as to what we can accomplish, money wise.
(5) The 2005 video season will be a "can we repeat our performance" kind of deal...
(6) All the while, stock piling the necessary $35,000 in cash. Several successful business owners who mentor us, suggested having $60,000 cash on hand before starting out, but since we have no overhead costs (no lease or rent or anything likethat), we can get away with less.
Ok, I'm going to work on contracts, pricing, and new services we're offering. Be back later.

Arnold S.
Oh man, Arnold S. is having a live Q and A on the Sean Hannity show right now. He is answering these questions from the crowd flawlessly. Wow. I'm impressed. He's going to win the race on Oct 7.
Ice Dream
Oh man I had a major hankering for some ice cream a little while ago, so I cruised over to chic-fil-a and got a large ice dream cup. Ummm ummm it was tasty! It is a beautiful day outside! I think I may do something out of my character, and that is, leave work early today.
I forgot to mention
There was a survey in today's USA Today. Only 33% of people age 20-29 are happy with their current job. That means 67% of people in my age range have some level of disdain for their current positions.
I think I know most of them personally.

Lunch time
Several things happened today:
(1) I got a call from the developer asking me to call him back. I called back, he wasn't there. I hope there's not a problem with the lot.
(2) Lunch was fun. Most of the regulars were there today. As I was leaving, Brenda was like, "What's wrong Kyle? You seem to be in a funk..." and I was like, "Eh I'm always in a funk". That's a little disturbing because that's like 2 times recently that people have mentioned I look depressed... holy cow I gotta do something about that.
(3) Jeremy Namie called me, and he's got a blog now! Welcome to the club man. It's great to have you here with us! Check his link on the left.

Yahoo! News - Nigerian Woman Escapes Stoning Sentence
I'll be honest. I don't really understand much about Islam and Muslims. I do know one thing though: stoning is not how I would prefer to be executed.
I recall hearing last year that the Islamic religion is the fastest growing religion in the USA. If they are advocating things like stoning to death for committing adultery.... we should all take a serious look at how this religion truly operates and the beliefs it purports…

I haven't been able to get onto Atlanta AM 640's stream all week. I hate not being able to listen to Glenn Beck in the mornings.
Well I really can't believe that the end of 2003 is nearly upon us. Where has the time gone? I have no idea. I think I've finally reached the point where I'm ready to settle down, let up on all the travelling, and retire from the workplace.

The Audi A4
There were some impressive ads in today's USA Today for the new Audi RS6. V8 420 HP 0-60 in 4.6 sec. That car looks smooth. There is some awesome sound files on their website of the engine. (www.audiusa.com --> A6 Family --> Flash Demo). Oddly, I can't seem to locate a price for it... that can't be good. LOL
After a good lunch at Applebee's, I headed over to Barnes and Noble to check out books on computers, small business, and graphic design. That was fun.
Ok, back to dave now.

Oliver just came in here, and was talking about building a prototype of something. Oh man I love that stuff. Stereolithography, Fused Deposition Modeling, Thermal Printing, Laminated Object Modeling, Selective Laser Sintering...
Ok, the passion is on. I'm going job hunting now.

USATODAY.com - Spammers, pedophiles force Microsoft to quit chat
I'm sitting here reading this article on MSN shutting down their chatrooms and towards the bottom I see this: "I think chat rooms function in the way a youth club functioned for us back in the '60s," said Terri Dowty, a policy advisor for watchdog group The Children's Rights Alliance for England.
The only difference is, there is no real "interaction". Chatting online doesn't teach kids how to deal with real world events and emotions the inevitably arise when humans are placed in close proximity to one another.
Funny of the day: Laurence just said he is on the “Eat all the meat you can diet… eat all the meat you can get your hands around”

Just got an invite to hang out with the Boeing Huntsville Senior Site Executive. ie, the person who runs all of Boeing in Huntsville. This should be fun.

Had a #5: 8-pack value sized w/ sweet tea for lunch.
Shane had called and was inquiring as to my knowledge of baby grand pianos, so I imparted to him, knowledge from the tome of my piano wisdom. LOL

Powerless
Been without power all morning. It went out around 8:30. I took off at 10:30 to drop all 5 of my guitars off at Tommy's to get them re-strung and serviced. If you're in the Huntsville/Decatur area, he's the man. Recognized as one of the top Luthier's in Alabama, it's a privalege and honor to have him work on my guitars. I've known him since 1997 and he's always done an excellent job. You can contact him at his store:

I went to lunch at the usual. All the regulars were there. Cruised over to AB Stephens after that to see how Jeff did at M.O.V.A. on Friday in Guntersville. He made it to the semi-finals, so that was good. Chatted with Adam for a bit and now I'm back here. Power is back on obviously. Gotta go do some work. Be back on later I'm sure.

MOVA
I forgot to mention that my good friend Jeff Beasley is performing at the Mountain Valley Music Festival in Guntersville tonight at 4:30 PM. He's in the semi-finals for songwriting and performing, instrumental category.
I just found out this morning, but I can't get there in time tonight. Rats. The finals are Sunday I think, so if he wins, I'll definately make a trip to check it out. I'll have to find a date, but that shouldn't be a problem.

Work issues.
Holy cow, been going through some more design revisions on this thing here at the office. I'm just like, "ok, why don't we just buy a pre-fab vacuum chamber instead of trying to build one on our own?"
And they're like, "they're too expensive" and so I'm like, "Ok, so we've spent the past 2 months turning the wheels, trying to get this concept to work, we've had a team of about 4 people on here, and more are getting on board as we near the next phase of development, and this is cheaper than just outight buying one?" LOL
Plus we don't even know if the T's we're getting are air-tight. LOL Man this has disaster written all over it. ROFL I'm glad I'm not presenting this idea at the Cape next week. The designer guy is. Good luck! ROFL

Directing
Just got confirmation on Big Spring Jam. We've got 5 passes secured. So it looks like it's going to be, Me (I'll be directing and producing!), Aaron, Scott (from Nashville), and one other person on video, and Jeremy from Clearwave doing the audio.
This is gonna be great!

goin' underground
I just read this:
About 565,000 utility customers lost electricity on Thursday as Hurricane Isabel roared ashore, downing trees and snapping power lines along the North Carolina and Virginia coast.
Why do we have power lines above ground? You know, how in subdivisions, they bury the lines, why can't they do that for the main lines that run from the power plants and substations?
We already have the national gas line that runs clear across the country... how hard would it be to do the same for electric lines? That would help solve a lot of the 'downed' power line problems in storms... and would also make the country much 'cleaner' looking...

Weight Gain?
Why are girls so obsessed with their weight? First of all, let me caveat this with: Girls who already have good figures.
A new friend of mine, who falls into the above category, called me on my way to lunch and after some chit chat was like, "I've gained 6 pounds because I've been eating out 2 or 3 times a day." It's all because her company is pushing a new drug (She's a pharmaceutical sales rep) and she's been in various meetings with vendors and clients etc and the company has been paying for all her meals. I saw her Monday afternoon, and I couldn't tell any difference. She still looks great. Now, if she gained like 20 pounds, I could see a reason for her to be concerned. LOL
Lunch was good. More importantly, it was on the house today. LOL Just because. Scott was like, "No biggie, just take off" That was kewl. I like days like that. Well I'm back at work now, so I'm listening to Dave Ramsey, and researching "FAQ's for buying property"
LOL

Traffic and Shortwaves
My buddy Michael started a great thread on the Decatur ng about all the traffic hoarkage on I565 that's been going on since like last week.
Someone started a thread about shortwave radio, and that's probably something I need to get into a little more. ATAG with your hosts K-Yo, J-Mo, and J-To goes shortwave, M-F 9-midnight, live from the USA.
I'll look at it when I get back from lunch later today.

Economics Of The Day
It was reported this morning that this weeks unemployment numbers were down to 399,000, down from 428,000 the previous week.
However, it is important to note that the four-week moving average rose to 410,750 for the Sept. 13 week from 408,750 the previous week. The moving average, regarded by economists as a truer reflection of the market than the more volatile weekly figure, has been rising since late August.
The number of people continuing to draw benefits rose to 3.68 million in the Sept. 6 week, the latest week for which figures are available. This was its highest since late June and a sign that people are still struggling to find work.
"The trend is still as discouraging as ever," said Lara Rhame, a senior economist at Brown Brothers Harriman.
My question is, a lot of job growth which occurred in the 90's was in the technology sector. This job growth was in areas I would consider "Vapor-ware" ie things which were all on paper, there was no REAL physical product. "Needs" were perceived or imagined, but never realized due to limitations in computers and technology. As these 'dreams' failed to achieve reality, companies began closing their doors.
Thus, the only way to achieve growth like we saw 7 years ago, is to have another technology-type revolution. However, hopefully this time, it will be with real products. Hardware.

That noise
As an engineer, we deal a lot with paper. big paper. drawings. Man, Laurence is over there thumbing through some 17"x60" layouts and that crackling paper noise is starting to piss me off.
I'm like "Please shut the $%^& up!... I'm trying to surf over here."

Morning Meetings
Been at the usual Thursday morning set of meetings. Not sure what all is going on today. There's talk of a lot of jobs opening up in Decatur, so I think I'm going to jump on some of those.
Last night I got a lot of work done on the wedding. I'll probably finish it up tonight, and get back to work on the Vipers stuff.
We're in the process of looking for a good deal on a new tripod, so we'll have 4 high quality tripods, because Tue night, we stuck Jeff with a crappy one. LOL I bought more tapes yesterday because we are out. They should be here on Saturday.
After some discussion, we pretty much decided to scrap the trip to Los Angeles in December this year for DV Expo West, and try to attend DV Expo East next year. The whole trip would have cost about $3000, and instead that just makes a nice Christmas bonus for us. ROFL

Genocide
Oh holy cow, I forgot to mention earlier, Sheila usually does the crossword puzzles in USA Today, and occassionally I'll work it with her as best I can, sometimes I know a lot, but today I knew like 1 answer. LOL There is no way to feel more un-smart than doing a cross word puzzle. ROFL
Man, there is so much stuff going on these next 3 weeks, it's out of control! I won't be gettin' hardly any sleep at all. I love it though, it makes life interesting. Deadlines, Deliveries, and such. I'll probably have to take some time off from work to get everything finished up.
That's about it for today, I'm headin' to the house.

Warm Regards
Man It's 2:00 PM and I'm just gettin' back from lunch. It was great today, all the regulars were there! The Vipers guys, Mr. B, Ben, Sheila, Corey, Trisha, and the Home Depot Guys.
The talk about me going out with Erin, Sheila's daughter, surfaced again. After Mr. B left, Sheila scooted over by me and Ben was like, "What's up with this?" LOL and she was like, "Well I'm trying to hook up Erin and Kyle" and then we had a relapse into last week's thing when this all started when Scott was like, "She was debating rather to hook Erin up with Kyle or Zack and I was like 'do you love your daughter? the answer is obvious... Kyle!" ROFL
The good thing for me, from a highly superficial stand point of course, is her daughter is gorgeous. I've seen the pix. Woooooooooo Holy Cow.
That just made my entire day today :)
Scott was going off on how I sleep at work and he was like, "He's like George in Seinfeld.. got that little compartment built into his desk.. just crawls in there and goes to sleep, the alarm goes off at 5:00 and he says, "it's time to go home" .." ROFL
Got a call to do a wedding this weekend too... not sure how that's going to work since we're doing the Jr miss again on Saturday, and I think I really REALLY need to be there for that, for some as yet undetermined reason.

Brother
Spent the past hour caming up with a rough sketch of the basement room sizes. Of course I don't have the actual dims for the lot yet, but I've been conservative.... got it down to 1575 sq ft (four 15x20 rooms) Billiards room, Music Room, Home Theater, and Office... plus a little 10x10 control room and a bathroom.
I love designing house plans!
It's time for lunch. I guess I'll head to somewhere new today: Applebee's.

Erotic Nightmares
It's almost 10:00 AM... time for my hourly 10-minute exercise walk.
It's kinda like the news, every hour, on the hour, I get in 10 minutes of stretching, leg exercise, etc. It really helps the day go by faster!

Kickin' back this morning, listening to some Steve Vai... surfin', workin' on web stuff...

G3
While we're on I-IV-V's, if you've never seen the "Red House" Jam on the G3 video, you gotta see watch it, because that is like on fire.
Man, that would have ruled to have seen that jam live. Holy cow. I sure hope they do a I IV V next month. I won't be able to contain myself. LOL

DVD Players
Ahh I forgot this earlier, as I was checkin' out at FYE the semi-cute check out chick was like, "Would you like to reserve a copy of Nemo on DVD?" and I was like, "Ummm no, I don't have a DVD player" She was like, "Would you like to buy one while you're here?" and I was like, "Ummm no" ROFL
On an unrelated note, why is it when you walk through the food court, all these foreigners bombard you with free samples of their food? ROFL When did this all start? Is this taught when you hire on?
On an even further unrelated note, Laurence is set to open up his shop in Parkway City Mall in about a month. I'll probably get a part time job there. I need more money.

Expanded Horizons
Well I'm pleased to announce that I finally used the birthday present that Nisha and Shama gave me for my bday last year. A gc to fye. Today I bought "the Yngwie Malmsteen collection". Wow, this is the first album I've ever owned with his stuff one it. It's pretty rockin'.
I remember when Clay use to always talk about this guy, but I never really listened to this stuff. I figured before I go see him in concert, I should at least at some idea of some of his work. LOL
One thing I'm noticing here, and that I've read and heard many times before is, the band just appears to be 'backing' Yngwie... as opposed to say like Dream Theater where all the musicians are just so unbelievably awesome.
While we're talking about guitar, another less talked about fav of mine is Jason Becker. Jason is without question the master of sweep picking. I took part in a discussion several months ago online, about the quintiessential guitar albums to own, and Jason's "Perpetual Burn" was the top of the list for picking up pointers on sweeping.
Oh the other amazing thing is, the dude was only like 19 when he recorded that album.
Ok, back to listening.

Only half
I'll only be here for half a day today, as I have to go home at lunch time and get stuff ready for the shoot tonight. I also have to go to the gym and get my hair cut all before 5:30 pm today.
Well that's about it for now. Nothing is happening here... just kickin' back listening to Glenn Beck.

Missin' NYC
I have somewhat relegated the notion of taking up residence in New York, but every now and then, the thought of big city life revisits my mind. Especially when I read things like this:
Michael Caine and Joan Collins, separately, supped at Elaine's in New York on Saturday night. Earlier in the week, Harper's editor Lewis Lapham went outside and explained golf to Franklin, the permanent homeless guy who fetches cabs for tips from the well-heeled patrons.
Téa Leoni, actress/wife of David Duchovny, with her two blonde kids, dining at Joe Jr.'s famous coffee shop in Greenwich Village over the weekend. Duchovny, who just lost his author father, starts shooting a film next month in the neighborhood co-starring Robin Williams.
Radio "personality" Howard Stern on Sunday afternoon, looking as disheveled as possible, walking a small white bulldog with brown spots into Central Park at the West 67th St. entrance. Salman Rushdie at the dinner for Cate Blanchett's new movie "Veronica Guerin" at the Plaza Athenee.
Ahhhhh to be living it up in NYC.....

Wes lives next to me.
I forgot to mention, one thing that was kinda cool about yesterday with the developer was, I was like, "There's a fella that lives out here somewhere named Wes that works at Intergraph, he got us a job at Big Spring Jam this year" and Steve was like, "OH WES! yeah, he lives right there, and pointed to a house, and it's the house right next to the lot I'm getting.
What's great about that is, Wes is a professional graphic designer, and with me being that close to him, there is no doubt we could utilize him in some of our projects!....just another sign from above that this is the right move!
I'm so stoked I'm about to exlplode!

Man of Steel
Steel frame construction... been looking at it ever since I got back from lunch. I think that's the way to go, as it allows wide spans without vertical supports on the lower levels. ie walls are non-strucutral entities.
Apparently the cost of the raw materials for construction are lower than traditional wood framing, but you pay for (1) fabrication and (2) bringing in a crew to put it together.
The good thing is, a steel frame home can be erected in just a few days, as opposed to the weeks for a traditional wood home.

Lunchtime
Uneventful lunch today. Scott was woking the 40's in addition the the bar, so the usual banter did not occur. I had a steak and used one of my get out of jail free cards. LOL
I read a story in USA Today about this 28 year old guy over in the West Bank. He has been trying to start a pharmacy for the past 3 years. It has been completely destroyed 4 times as a result of the Palestianian uprisings and Israeli conflict. While that is tragic, at the end of the story it said something like, "and now with a financial status of zero, __name___ has lost the bride his mother had chosen for him.
Now, I really don't understand this whole thing in the middle eastern cultures where the families pick your wife. The other thing is, what difference would it make that he didn't currently have a financial status. That's part of marrige, working through tough times, being there for each other. Right?
There was also a good deal of info in the latest economic indicators and some stories related to credit card debt, which I can't wait to hear Dave's commentary on... it's about time now....

Fun car stories
is what we've been talking about for the past hour. I got to tell my alternator belt story and Will told 2 great stories he had. He actually got stuck in Louisville back in college for 4 days because his transmission went out.
I was telling my story and mentioned "high pitch squeel" and Will was like, "you lost a belt didn't you" ROFL I was like, "How'd you know?" ROFL
Ahhh life is good my friends.

It's 1:30 Friday
As Aaron just told me in the parking lot at the Space and Rocket Center, "I've got to get out of Alabama" ROFL I agree 100%. NYC NYC NYC NYC NYC.
Q said that if he wins $1,000,000 in LV next week that he'll buy a place in NYC and then we'll be able to move up there and be bums. .. err look for jobs I mean. ROFL Sounds like a plan to me.
I can just imagine how awesome that would be. Hanging out at Central Park, partying all night, gettin' in at 5 AM, sleepin' till noon and starting the process all over again.
That would be great man. Holy cow. I need $1,000,000.

Cash out
Well it appears we've lost 2 pretty big names in the entertainment world. Johnny Cash and John Ritter. Of course, since I don't watch TV or listen to the radio, I don't know much about them , but I do know Cash was a country music singer, and Ritter was on some menage' twa (sp) show. ROFLMAO
65 traffic
Holy cow there were 2 major traffic hang ups this morning. One on I65 and one on I565. I got off at the Priceville exit heading towards Huntsvegas and traffic was backed up about 1/2 mile from the on-ramp, so I, along with a few hundred other people, cut across the median under the Upper River Road overpass and went back through town. 6th ave was bumper to bumper.
I did have a Liz sighting this morning! 8:06 AM coming out of the Krystal's parking lot. If things wouldn't have been so congested, I would have made the customary U-turn and stopped and talked to her.
A little ways on up I565 there was a major slowdown at the 65/565 interchange. As I neared the Greenbrier exit I passed an 18-wheeler and looked in my rearview mirror and noticed what appeared to be a forklift cruising in the emergency lane at about 15 mph. That was what was holding up traffic.
Sorry I didn't get to post last night, but things were just out of control. I had car problems (lost the alternator belt), then had band practice, went to Cracker Barrel ended up sitting with Andrea and making a new friend: Stephanie (<-- Cutie), then Tag and I had to burn and prepare 50 CD's for a client who has a buyer coming into town today.
I don't know what I'm going to do today. Kevin is supposed to send me pics he took last night at CB w/ his palm pilot and I will post them on my alternate blog site at www.kyleroot.com.

Towelheads
Dave just reminded me of a funny story Kevin and Chris were talking about today at lunch. Last week, this fella up North shipped himself Fed Ex to his mom's house in Texas. Upon arrival he popped out of the box and everyone was surprized. The delivery men went above and beyond his job and called the police and turned the guy in. Turns out the guy had written a lot of bad checks up north and didn't have money for a plane ticket home, so he charged the shipping to the company. LOL He got fired.
They were then talking about Al-queda and terrorist attacks and stuff and Kevin was like, "Well if he can get away with that, next thing you know, we'll be having "sandmen" jumping out of there."
It was pretty funny.

more medication.
Just got back from a great lunch. The usual Thursday crew was there: Gill, Ben, Chris, Drew, Mr. B,. Kevin, and Larry along with a few un-regulars. I scarfed down some beef stir-fry and hung out for a while. The buzz today was all about Seinfeld coming to Huntsville Halloween Night. That’s going to be a great show. I don’t know if I’m going or not though, because I’ve already been to 2 of his shows the past 2 years. I don’t want to make this an annual event. LOL
Kevin said something to me today that disturbed me a little. He said, “Kyle, what’s wrong man? You look stressed out.” I was like, “Holy &$*! I’m not stressed out man, that’s like impossible”. Scott A. was like, “You appear to be doing much better than on Monday” ROFL which is true because I was really not in a good mood on Monday.
I may need to double up on my Zoloft or something, or just change jobs. Not sure which.
Well I’m going to surf and listen to Dave Ramsey now. Bye bye.

Three Thousand Sixteen Souls
A total of 3,016 people were killed during the September 11 attacks.
While that is tragic, and there is a tremendous loss suffered by those families and loved ones who lost someone in the attacks, I can not help but briefly wonder how exceedingly sick it would have been if the NYC attack had happened an hour later, when the twin towers were full of workers and visitors.
That's over 50,000 people. That's the size of the town I live in. That is truly staggering to imagine.
God Bless our men and women in the armed services who are waging the ongoing battle against terrorism. Over the past 2 years, we have not had a terrorist attack in the USA. There is no doubt this is due to the work of our Intelligence agencies. Without their work, many planned attacks would not have been thwarted. Finally, thank you to President Bush for doing the right thing and being proactive in these matters. Clearly the MO of the terrorists is to strike first and strike hard. By being proactive we are preventing the terrorists from carrying out their plans in this country.
Let us be vigilant in our endeavors to stem the rising tide of terrorism against our country!

On this day, I hope everyone takes a moment to stop and remember the tragic and horrifying events that occurred 2 years ago.
Moment of silence: 7:46 AM....
Do you remember where you were, and what you were doing when you first head about the planes hitting the buildings? I do. I hope we all do....
As we move forward with our lives, for those of us not directly impacted by the death and destruction it is a little easier I'm sure, we must never forget this attack on our collective spirits.
Many have debated if this should be made a holiday. Absolutely not. Should we have a day of remembrance. Absolutely.
Look at what has happened to other Holidays. Commercialization. Christmas, Labor Day, Easter: have all been lost to the corporate monster, save a few Americans who still honor the purpose and meaning behind these days. The mere thought of this degradation to the meaning September 11 should greatly offend us all.
Who knows what the world will be like 50 years from now? Today, many of us do not remember, nor fully grasp, the events of December 7, 1941 simply because we were not alive. Like wise, many years from now, some may not remember, nor fully grasp the events of Sept 11, 2001. Thus, as parents and grandparents have done for us, it will be our duty to explain how those events lead to the current state of the world.
In closing, these events have brought us closer together as a nation. I want to encourage each and everyone one of you to tell your family and close friends that you love them. We do not know when or where the next attack will be, and it would be a shame to miss this opportunity. Live each day to the fullest, do what you love, be with who you love, perform a kind deed for a stranger, and cherish those memories you hold most dear....

FrEaKy InCiDeNt Of ThE dAy
J-mo just called me on the phone and was asking what dates I had planned for SB next year... he was looking for flights on Expedia.
What's freaked out is. I was looking at flights on expedia about 5 minutes earlier, and was now looking for hotels. ROFL
The A-team must have a psychic link or something.
It looks like all the 4 and 5 star hotels are booked up the last weekend in March. We'll have to work something out. I think I may have been a little low on the initial $1000 estimate, because airfare alone is running $500.
We'll have to update the ladies on the change in cost. LOL Up the savings rate to $50 a week for the next 28 weeks. Looks like getting the airline tickets at the end of Nov/first of Dec would be a good time.

No More Taxes
Should the rich pay more in taxes? Absolutely not. The socialist view is, they have more than me, I should have some of their money because I'm less fortunate for whatever reason.
That is absolutely wrong on a variety of levels.
It's important to realize that 9/10 millionaires are first geneartion rich, meaning, they earned it themselves. It was not inherited. It's so easy to become wealthy in today's society that no one (save rare and extrenuating circumstances) should complain about not having enough money. Those of us in our 20's and 30's can easily have a 7 figure net worth in 30-40 years.
Dave Ramsey is going off right on this topic, and I agree 100% with what he's saying. Those of us who bust it 12-16 hours day to try and provide for our families and loved ones, should not be taxed 2 or 3 times on what we earn.
It's time to get govt out of our pockets!

Is that for real?
We are all sitting here trying to figure out what the abbreviation DSc stands for. Some fella just emailed Don with that after his name.
Steve just said something about a chiropractor, and I got to thinking, is it just me, or is that not a real medial profession. LOL I dunno, I've never been to one, but for some reason I just have this impression of fly-by-night schooling to get a 'degree' (certification?) to be a chiropractor. I'm not sure why I even think that.
NEWS ALERT:
Rush Limbaugh is talking about the Bob Riley Tax plan that just failed to pass. Here's something interesting: the "Yes" team had 22 FULL TIME employees working. The "No" team had 3 FULL TIME employees. Wow. I did my part by placing 2 vote No signs in my front yard, and also with the "No" campaign sign on my personal site. I'm glad the people of Alabama did the right thing. Now we can look forward to having a lottery so I don't have to go to GA to buy tickets. LOL

Free Lunches!!!
As you may or may not know, this is National Hispanic Month. In order to commemorate this event, Boeing had a special free lunchon today at the park.
I walked down there with some guys from my group. After we got our food, we had to find a picnic table to sit at. We found one on the outskirts, a ways away from the live band.
After we sat down and started eating, this big bumble bee decided to hover at our table. A couple times it kinda got close to me, and at one point it got really close and I about fell over the back of the bench. Richard was like, "are you scared of it?" and I was like, "Yes I am." WOoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
I have this major phobia of things that sting and bite. Surely I'm not the only person who has this.
Somehow I think I cut my leg, opposite side of my left calf, on table. I feel a lawsuit coming on for un-safe eating conditions. LOL

I seriously hope everyone is listening to this thing he is railing on.

Recent studies indicate 56% of middle level managers are looking for a new job, hoping to jump ship as soon as the economy turns. More and more Americans are becoming dis-satisfied with their current job situation.

The three kinds of employees
Employee #1
Comes to work and does what you tell them to do, and when they're finished they surf for porn.
Employee #2
Comes to work and does what you tell them to do, and when they're done they say, "What else do you need me to do?"
Employee #3
Comes to work and does what you tell them to do, and when they're done they start doing other things they know fit into the plan of the company. They are dreamers.
You need leaders that demonstrate the 3rd kind of employee. These should be the bosses. They should live it, so emploees can see how things work. Companies need to reward it. You can't have a great year and give 3% raises.
LMV is working to make sure we have employee's who fit profile #3.

Talk show mania
I gotta say, I absolutely love Dennis Miller. I hope everyone caught him on Jay Leno last night. One funny quote related to Arnold running for gov, "Why not vote for the only man in the state who, when he says "Kali-for-nia", makes it sound like a Star Wars planet." I was rolling man. I love Dennis's off the cuff references.
Seriously though think about it, Arnold, came to this country and said he wanted to became the #1 body builder. He did it. He then wanted to become the #1 action movie star. He did. Now he wants to be the gov of CA. He'll do it.
Oh another funny thing about Arnold: "What's the big deal with all this talk about him getting laid when he first moved here? Of course he was getting laid... he's the #1 body builder in the world... you think he's not gettin' some?" ROFL
After watching all that, I flipped over to Dave Letterman and he had Selma Haiyiak (sp) on there. Holy cow, I couldn't understand a word she was saying, but she was hot. She was talking about her new movie and was like, "YOu can't even see my face in this sequence" and Dave was like, "Oh, that's ok, there's other things to look at" ROFL.
Then I cruised over to The Jimmy Kimmel show, and Adam Corolla was on there. I watched about 2 minutes of that, then read some graphic design book and passed out.

RoCk On My FrIeNdS, wItH mTv
Met Jon up at Applebee's for dinner around 5:45 tonight. We sat with Beth. Since the beach trip this weekend is out, we decided to go ahead and begin plans for South Padre Texas next year. Jon asked Beth if she wanted to go, and she said she would go, if she could bring Maggie and her sister, because they had been thinking about taking a road trip like that.
I was like, "We might as well all just take one together!" Jon was like, "There might be a little drinking, I hope that doesn't bother you" ROFL "Don't worry, Kyle is the dd...he always is." ROFL Oh it was hilarious.
As Jon noted, I won't be able to quit my job until after Spring Break, because I'll need the money. In order to save the estimated $1,000 it's going to cost, we must begin saving $35 a week for the next 28 weeks. Oh man I am soooooo looking forward to spring break next year. LOL

What a day.
Well I just got done washing the white car (The good car that never leaves the garage, as JS calls it. ROFL) . It was covered in bugs from the trip to Cullman on Saturday.
I just got done talking to Jeff and his bills added up to more money than he had, so he won't be going to the beach this weekend. Jon and I have been talking off and on about going to Cancun next year. So I may forfeit my beach trip this year and start sockin' away money for that.
If I don't go to the beach this year, this'll be the first time since 1997 that I haven't gone to the beach at least once. I hate to break that streak. Looks like I'll have to call up Erin and see what she's doing this weekend.
Guess I'm gonna grab a bite to eat here at the house and kick back for a while, before starting on this wedding reception.
Oh, I did talk to Shane a couple hours ago, and we've got ANOTHER huge project starting on October 11 so that is totally awesome!

It's good to be here today. Oh man, I just told a big one right there. Last night was video night. I worked a lot on the Vipers video and also started a wedding project. I did manage to get in about 3 hours of guitar practice while capturing and clipping last night so that was good.
I watched what I could of MNF. My channel 31 reception was all messed up and it was hard to see. Tag came over and we watched a little bit of the "New York City" special on APT. It was really interesting.
In other news, I just heard NYC has beefed up security big time in the Subways starting today because the most recent intelligence reports indicate the next terrorist hit is going to be chemcial or biological in NY in the subways. It's being reported that police are in full riot gear and are using geiger-counter-like devices to measure air quality. Interesting.
Locally, make sure and vote no on Amendment 1. No more taxes!

I just heard a caller suggest to Dave that he start a "dating" service. I think that is a great idea! Honestly, I thought about emailing him that same suggestion last week... until things started picking up with all the chicks around here. He says that it is the most requested thing that they have never done.
Oh man, Let's all email Dave and see if he'll start a match making service. That would be so kewl.

Just read an article on Fox News where 261 people were sued for DL'ing music from Kazaa. Being in the media profession now, I see the importance of respecting copyright law.
Also, being a part time musician, I can easily see the side of the music companies wanting to limit the extreme abuses in song copying today's technology allows.
Clearly DL'ing songs off the net is wrong and is an infringement on the various companies profits who promote their artists.
Are CD prices too high? Probably Yes. Does this give you the right to go steal the music from online somewhere? No. It does not.
So do the right thing, go buy the CD.

At lunch today, Sheila was trying to convince me to "Vote Yes" tomorrow. She was saying something about stopping the timber companines from raping the land and paying only $1.25 in tax per acre they own. She said she was willing to pay more in property tax in order to make that happen. Also, Sam came in and said he was voting yes to ensure his grandson (who is like 2 yrs old) will have a good education.
Good Lord, I came back from lunch today, and everyone is dis-mantling their desks. ROFL ... taking the little key lock thing off the front drawerer. We're having a contest to see who can take the mechanism apart and re assemble it the quickest!
Wooooooooo No more work for the rest of the day! I'm headin' out at about 3:30 again.

Oh man I was just jammin' on the guitar here at the office, and Will asked me to play that song by Cheap Trick "I want you to want me". That started this massive 80's discussion, and now I'm jammin' to that remake of the Crowded House hit, "Don't Dream It's Over". Blind Bart may have to add that to the set list.
It is so incredibly beautiful outside today. The blue sky is clear as glass and the trademark fall breeze is gently blowing the limbs of the mighty oak and pine trees... The only thing better is this same setting at the beach! (sans the trees)
Needless to say, my return to UAH wasn't quite as I imagined it would be. I had envisioned cruising up there in, say for instance, a GS300, G35, or maybe even a 330Ci. However, I made the rounds in my Sentra. ROFL.
Anyways, it's good to be back. Holy cow, there were chicks everywhere. As I made my way down to the bookstore, two very hot Delta Zetas were walking up the stairs and were all like, "Hi!" with big friendly smiles. I was like, "Hell yeah, that's what I'm talkin' about baby!"
There is no doubt, I will be a perpetual college student. I love it! Of course the best part is, everyone thinks I'm like 18! . . . they're only off 10 years. ROFL
Oh, I went to McAlister's today and got their last Spud! Whew that was almost a disaster.

What are you doing with your life? Is it what you want to do? I sure hope it is. I spend a lot of time in deep thought. I love the topics of philosophy and psychology. I often wonder where I would be, had I continued pursuing an English degree in 1995.
I was talking to Sean at The Brick last night, and he was talking about going back to school and finishing up his Master's in English. He reminds me a lot of Dee, whom I haven't talked to in a couple years. When I look back on it, I really owe that dude a lot. If it wasn't for him, I never probably would have really gotten into music at all.
In other news, I rolled over in the bed this morning, looked at the clock, and it said, "7:10 AM'. At which point I was like, "Why do I even get up in the morning?" I have no idea really. I rolled back over and went back to sleep for a bit. So now it's about 8:45 and I'm just getting to work. I should be good for 3 or 4 hours max today.
I'm going to try and to see Em at some point tonight/tomorrow and take her to see American Wedding. Might give us some new things to try. Oh wait, no it won't. LOL WOooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo Life is good my friends.

I forgot to tell a great story that happened at lunch today. Scott A. was talking about how he got feelings for the first time last night at a Fantasy Football thingy, and we both busted out at the exact same... "What is this salty discharge coming from eye"
WOooooooooooooooooooooo Oh man it was hilarious. The entire restaurant was laughing.

Today at lunch, I read an amazing artcle in USA Today about the last firefighter from the WTC attacks, who was finally laid to rest. His family had been waiting for 2 years to receive a shread of anything that could be actually buried. Today the story indicated that there will probably be over 1000 people who will never be identified and matched with known missing people.
Gay Man's Bowel Syndrome. I'm sure you're thinking "What the f...." Yes, I am thinking that as well. Laurence was saying he's going to see the doctor because of this incessant cough he's had for like a year. Don and Will were like, "Is it SARS?" Next thing I knew we were talking about different kinds of sicknesses and Laurence busted out with that one.
That is whacked.
That is whacked.

12:52 --> Isn't it sad when you are embarrassed to say you work for Boeing. All the ethics violations that occur here are just amazing. There are new rumblings all over the news of possible violations in the latest $21 billion Air Force tanker deal. I gotta get out of here. This place is just bad bad bad, on a variety of levels.
12:37 PM --> Just got back from lunch. I decided to have Chic Fil A today. Everyone else went to Tim's Cajun Kitchen for Phil's going away party. I was just out on that. I'm slowly removing myself from the team, instead of becoming one with the team. That way when I leave in a few months, it won't be a big deal or anything. Bone wants me to use a Stiffler line on my last day. I may. I may not. All depends.
Jon sent me an email, he's got a blog now! Our collective strength increases each and every day! We will assimilate more into our virtual continuum! BWAHahahahahaaaaaaa (cough cough) ROFL
Ok I'm going to go surf the net.

9:39 AM --> As the on-going "Should I quit today, or should I stay through December" saga continues, JS brought up an interesting point last night at the studio. He said, "I wasted 2 years of my life at that place" in reference to where he use to work.
As I sit here this morning, trying to get either Glenn Beck or Dave Ramsey to stream (I've been fighting with my internet connection for over an hour now), I've been thinking, "Why am I here?" "Why do I even bother with this?" I have not been able to come up with a good answer. I may just go ahead and hit the "Self Terminiate" button on the website. They make it so easy to quit here. LOL
A couple more folks in our group are leaving the company today, and I kind of wish I was with them. The lazy side of me is saying "You've got it good.. you sit around, surf the net, and update your blog all day. On top of that you get paid a hefty sum of cash." However, the professional side of me says, "You need to get out there and do what you love to do and make a living."
8:45 AM --> There was some funny stuff on Glenn's program on the way in this morning, in regards to the VMA's and Britney, Christina, and Madonna kissing.
[Glenn] "Does any guy really find porn or lesbianism offensive?"
[retarded voice] "Deerrrrr... I do."
[Glenn] "LIAR!"
ROFL
No guy on this planet honestly finds that offensive. Now, does this mean it's good for us, No. Porn is bad. It will destroy you morally and spiritually. Same thing with lesbianism. However, that doesn't mean it's not interesting and fun to watch. Just remember it leads you down a rosy path to your destruction.
Think of it as if you were an alcoholic. There is nothing I'd rather have right now than a glass of Jack Daniels. Do I have it? No. Why not? It's bad for me, because I'm an alcoholic. It's the exact same thing. We have to exercise some self restraint.
