Dating?

I like to think positive about relationships, but it is true that one never knows how they will turn out, especially when embarking on a new one. You know how it is. The, “getting to know you” stage is always the most strenuous. “Can she put up with my quirks?” “Can I live with her quirks?”… those age old questions of love and romance. This is why I advocate moving in together. j/k

I recently explained my simple dating rules. I have high, almost un-realistic it seems, expectations in my potential mate. But really, I don’t believe they’re too far out. Once a girl passes the initial physical attraction test, I only have one disqualifier:

(1) Smoking: If I see you smoking, you don’t even get a chance.

Other things I consider are:

(1) Religion: Got faith?
(2) Morals: A moral conscience is necessary
(3) Drinking: Only non-drinkers, or VERY light drinkers.
(4) Kids: Typically, no pre-existing rug rats are allowed.
(5) Career: Must be something respectable
(6) Issue Level: Is she over any past experiences? How does she handle herself? Is she on medication?
(7) Neediness Level: It better be low, Independence is sexy.
(8) Thoughtful Level: Does she offer to do nice things for me? Or even better, surprise me? If so, she’s a keeper.
(9) Articulation: Can she speak effectively? Communication is key.
(10) Kitchen Skillz: Can she use a pot and pan? If so, bonus points are awarded. That’s simply because I, myself, am not a formally trained chef.
(11) Financial Skillz: Does she understand the importance of saving for retirement? Does she know how to shop for bargains? What kind of vehicle is she driving compared to her income level? [this should really be #1 instead of #11, on this list]
(12) Fitness Level: Does she workout regularly? Is she concerned about the her body and does she work hard at keeping it looking good? [This should be #2, instead of #12]
(13) Policitcal stance: Lucky #13.... Conservative? I hope so.
