What do you say?

Late last night, I received an IM from a person I haven't talked to in two years. I asked how things were going and got the, "long story" response.

I made the phone call and learned this person was expelled from pharmacy school a couple weeks ago because a patient died as a result of improper medication (dosage?) and the rotation administrator is putting the blame on the student, when in reality it was the admin who actually recommended whatever was given.

I did not know what to say at first. But, once the person clued me in to the $150,000 in student loans and lack of an income until Monday, (when this person begins working at a restaurant) I was able to focus and did my best to put on the Dave Ramsey hat.

In the end, one of the recommendations I made, was to seek counsel at church. Turns out, this had already happened, and they didn't provide any assistance. As a result, faith in humanity and belief in the good-will towards those in need, is dwindling quickly.

This is sad to me. It is true we can depend on no man and it is up to each individual to forge their own future. However, I believe strength, love, and care that result from close relationships with others is essential to the well being of a person's existance. Likewise, helping strangers in a time of need is something we should all participate in and learn from.

To be 24 years old and be in this situation, where you've worked so hard for something and then, Ta-Dow, you've got nothing... This person was scheduled to graduate in 2 months, and had already accepted a job with a major pharmacy chain. But, now that's gone, because it was contingent upon getting a degree.

Tough life man. Tough.

Apparently we make a cute couple
Of course, I already knew this...

This morning at work, I brought in some of the photos J-mo has shot. I hung up, "the one" and everyone is like, "Is that your girlfriend?... you two are so cute!" etc etc. I've got my guitar pix hanging up too. It really makes my office feel more inviting having these pix up. Plus, it gives me something to focus on for 3 or 4 hours a day. LOL

Dang those are awesome pictures!

More Work
There's a high probability we'll be shooting video and taking photos at the Nashville Motor Speedway on Saturday at the NASCAR Busch series race. Whatever that means... because I don't know anything about racing. All I know is, we'll probably down with the pit crew and stuff, and apparently everyone I've talked to thinks that's really cool.

So, whatever.

Ok, I'm just getting in from work, and there's a million things going on tonight.

More later.
