Earthquake in Hawaii!

Holy cow... you remember those signs I posted a couple weeks ago about "Dangerous hiking on the fresh lava flows"? ... This is why, 40+ acres collapsed into the ocean on the Big Island during an earthquake earlier this week!

It's crazy to think that I was out there near that!

----- Here are a couple of pictures from my trip -----
There were literally hundreds of cars parked along "Chain of Craters Road". It took us 20 minutes to walk to the beginning of the actual hike to the smoke plume, which you can see in the distance. That hike is itself about a 45 min to 1-hour hike.



This picture is hiking out on the lava flow. You can faintly see the lava off in the distance. It's a shame that this picture doesn't really convey how bright the lava lines actually were with the naked eye. It was just beautiful to see.
