Kids Say The Craziest Things

I spent most of yesterday afternoon at the ball fields with my girlfriend and her daughter. Afterwards we were heading to Dairy Queen and she said, "Mommy, why don't you and Kyle hurry up and get married so I can have a baby sister." Interesting.

We've only been dating like 2 weeks, but it feels like we've been together for so much longer. It's weird in a very cool way. I've never felt at such ease with any girl I've ever dated before. It's like we're on the same page and have found ourselves about to say the same things at the same time several times already.

The only other time that has happened has been when I've been my really good friends who I've spent a lot of time with. Most obviously, Jeff, and to some extent J-mo. A lot of times we can finish each other sentences. That is slightly scary. LOL

Being an enginner, I tend to analyze everything. When I look at us, I see the potential for such an amazing serious relationship. Of course, it will take time to develop, but I think we are well on our way. All I know is, life is good.

The other night we had a discussion on the 4 key areas to a successful marriage. After listening to Dave Ramsey for 5 years, I've heard all kinds of couples call in with issues and Dave has done a great job of breaking out the 4 main areas couples have problems with:
1. Money Fights/Money Problems, are the leading cause for divorce in
America. So it makes sense to be on the same page here.
2. Kids, the
couple
must agree on how many to have, and how to raise them.
3. In-Laws,
the couple
must agree on 'boundaries' on letting the in-laws affect their
lives.
4. Religion, the couple must share a common faith and value
system

To me, it makes an immense amount of sense to get these 4 areas out there right from the get-go. I mean, since it's a given that these are the areas many couples struggle with, why not try and be proactive and talk about them up front? I encourage anyone who is in a relationship to openly discuss these topics before getting heavily involved, because if there is a major disagreement on any of those issues, it will lead to problems later. And who wants major problems in their lives, if they can be avoided?

Hmm... it's almost dinner time. I leave you with those thoughts as I am getting a little hungry now.

Ponder and discuss.
