I must be the luckiest guy on the planet.
On my way back from lunch with my girlfriend today, I kept thinking just how blessed I am to have met her. Last night, she cooked a most fabulous dinner and even thought of me, and got my favorite Caesar salad. How sweet is that? The best part was the soft and chewy chocolate chip cookies that she baked for dessert! I can't even recall the last time I had home baked chocolate chip cookies. I'm tellin' ya' she's a great girl.
Many of you who know me, can attest (as she proclaimed last night before dinner to the other guests), "Kyle doesn't like kids." But, that's not entirely true. Her daughter is so well behaved that it makes it easy for me to be around her. She's not all bouncing off the walls and such. Those would be kids I have problems with. She's a good kid. Smart kid. Athletic kid. Which is cool.
When I got back to the office, one of the ladies from upstairs stopped and asked me how the new job was going. Of course, it's going great and I really enjoy it. This afternoon I had a meeting with our Division Chief was informed that I would be managing two giant pots of money within our division for my team. He made reference to not being able to get promoted to the next level without having budget experience. So, apparently they must believe that I can do a good job with money (although, I don't know where they would get that idea. haha). It's very cool to see that they think that I am capable of becoming a DB4 (GS 14-15 equiv) in the next couple of years.
When I sit back and see this awesome girl, a great job, my family, and friends... I know, I am the luckiest guy in the world.
All I need to do now is move out of my parents house. One day, it'll happen. Probably. Maybe. I think. I dunno. We'll see. I've got a couple more years.
