2.6 million.. . . That is a lot of money. You would think that if that kind of expenditure were going to occur for a 30-second television commercial, the commercial would be great. It seems to me that the Super Bowl LXI commercials were pretty lackluster to say the least. The only one that really made me laugh was the Blockbuster commercial with the "mouse". That was probably only because I'm a nerd, as my girlfriend called me the other day. I've watched the Super Bowl for the past 4 years: not for the football, but for the commercials. Every year the commercials have gotten worse.
The more I thought about it, I realized, "Maybe companies are making bad commercials to generate a buzz about their product." But then I realized a good commercial would do the same thing, so the only explanation that leaves is, there are some morons in the marketing department.
Then there was the halftime show for Super Bowl XLI. Prince. The Artist Formerly Known As Prince. Whoever or Whatever he is, the mix of the performance was pretty bad. Too much "screeching" into the microphone. Oh, speaking of singing, I was in the car as Billy Joel was singing the National Anthem, did anyone else seem to think that he was singing off key?
How do you pick which team you are for in sports? I was for the Chicago Bears. You know why? Because I remember Saturday Night Live doing that "Da Bears" skit. Because, Illinois is the state that my dad is from. Because Chicago is where Michael Jordan played basketball in the NBA. Those are the three reasons I was for the Bears. Oh, also because our high school team mascot was a Black Bear.

Yeah, the commercials pretty much stunk this year. A big letdown.
I kinda laughed at the "Federline! Fries!" commercial and the guy getting wacked by the meteor...but, not enough to talk about the next day.
We were talking about that "Da Bears" skit during the game. Fond memories of Chris Farley performing CPR on himself and choking on (and throwing up) a full chicken leg. Too funny.
SNL. Another thing on TV that's just not funny anymore.
