This just cost me $3.55. It's a good thing i am on travel comp time today, to offset these costs. Refer to my post below about the prices of food in airports. It's like they run their own countries in here and have no idea what the prices of food are everywhere else in the world.

Part of the problem is the cities that run the airports charge an arm and a leg for rent because they know people are willing to put up with huge rental fee$ because volume of sales at airports will be massive (and so huge profit$) because nobody has anything to do but sit around and wait, and people sitting and waiting usually need something to eat and/or drink, and they're willing to pay exorbitant prices while waiting because what other choice do they have?
Part of the problem is airports (and other public transportation agencies) being required to run at a profit and justify their existence, rather than being allowed to concentrate on their real purpose, that being providing a transportation service to the public. Most airports are not businesses, they're government agencies, and as such the bottom line should be irrelevant when providing a service utilized by a majority of the population.
