What's the use?

Yesterday Jawana and I went to Nashville for the day. She offered to drive, so I let her. On the way back I zoned out and just started wondering if everything I do is worth it. All the time I spend editing videos, working the weekends, constantly in the books on graphics and design... all that in addition to the regular 40-hour office job.

I've started spending more time with my music, which is another way I spend my time. With a new baby just around the corner, I find myself wondering more and more what I should do. The problem is I enjoy everything I do, and I'm pretty good at it. But sometimes I wonder if I've stretched myself a bit too far.

The other thing is, good heaven's, I'm playing video games again, REGULARLY with friends. That in itself is pretty freakin' crazy.

To top all that off, this afternoon were at Books A Million, and I read in an Anime magazine that Shoji Kawamori is releasing a 25th anniversary Macross anime this year. I about had a cow right there. I love Macross (Robotech)! I am very excited about that!

None the less, the question remains... How can I continue to work 60-80 hours a week when the baby comes? And what good is that anyway?

Over the past several months, it seems like everything is just a blur. I don't want to look up in a few years and wonder where all the time went. I mean, we only live once, right? Why spend it working all the time?

In a few weeks, we are going on a vacation. But, in order to get the $2,500 write off on taxes, I have turned it into a "Working Vacation". I mean, that's all fine and good because that is a perk of being a small business owner, writing everything off, but am I ever going to have a chance to really get away and not have to be worried about "work".

I use to think that getting this laptop computer last year was the greatest thing ever. But really what that means is work can follow me where ever I go.

Same thing with the cell phone.

Technology. It's cool. But also can really hinder your life.

Amen, bro.

My cell wasn't picking up in the beach house at Myrtle Beach a few weeks ago, and it was so nice!

Then I recently figured out how to remotely access our work computers, which at first I thought was great. But now I find myself sitting home at 11:00 at night doing work.

It's a bunch of CARP is what it is.
