Yes! The $700B financail bailout package was voted down today! That is trememdous news! We the taxpayers have been spared having to pay for a lot of people's bad financial decisions! Finally a glimmer of common sense emerges from Washington DC.
I'll tell you what, there are some fabulous bargains to be had out there on Main Street. Have you been shopping lately? We are working on our interior decorating skills and buying some artwork and other stuff for the house, and there are a ton of great deals... like 50% off or more on stuff.
Being debt free is the way to be!
A lot of people think the economy is in a downturn. However, if you have no payments, this is like bargain hunting season and a fantastic time. Gas and food prices might be up a little but, but really, it's not too bad.
So, hurry up and get out of debt and enjoy all the bargains. I can not wait to see what it's going to be like next year come vacation time for Spring Break. I bet there are going to be some AWESOME deals on vacation rentals! Last year we paid like $900 for a super nice resort in Destin Florida for a week. That was a deal and I have the utmost confidence we will be able to get a much better bargain this year.
How long will all this "turmoil" last? Probably at least 2 years, but maybe as long as 5 or 7. So, pay off your credit cards, cut them up, and start using cash for everything. Likewise, start working overtime. Just work and everything will be great!

I agree that there are a lot of deals to be had... but for many people you have to get out of debt first.
And when stuff like gas and food are up, some of that extra money that might normally have been spent on the fun stuff is gone before you can buy anything else. Gotta take care of the bills first, no?
