Well my friends, I am not sure what to think about this election situation.
While the President himself has no direct impact per se' on my day to day life; his ideals, principles, and goals do. And, what bothers me is, Obama's are ones I have never agreed with.
The idea of government programs to help every freakin' person in the USA, which is basically what his platform has been (and how hard working American's were out voted by lazy? people is a mystery... does that mean there are more beggars out there than hard workers and people with drive to succeed?)
I really didn't like McCain either, BUT, at least he had Palin on his team and she more or less cleaned up Alaska, and that is what we need in DC.
We need spending cuts and frivolous program cuts.
We need to continue to strengthen our military.
We need to start taking closing the borders much more seriously. How many people do you know who have been in car accidents with illegal aliens with no insurance? I know quite a few... and here in Alabama we've got people getting murdered by them. It is so simple... they are here against the law. Send those people home! Freak! It is so simple it's insane. Why can no politican's understand this? Also, as we make our way out of the middle east, send some of these guys to the border with their tanks and state of the art gear to crack down on all the freakin' drug runners that are bringing drugs into America. Clamp down!
We need lower taxes. Everyone. Not just the middle class. Those of us who are employed and make less than $250K/yr need tax cuts. Employers need tax breaks. How many poor people do you know who hire folks? Exactly. None. What really truly need is a complete tax reform.
I would propose 10% fed tax and a10% state tax. Across the board. 20% total. I would take that any day over the 35% I'm paying now. If God can make it on 10%, our federal and state government can too.
What really sucks is, this whole election thing is just a sham anyway. When you look at the numbers, in terms of the national debt, the illegal aliens pouring in here like water through a broken dam.... it's going to take more than a President to fix this. We need a complete overhaul of our entire government system with conservative, common sense values.

Out of curiosity, what do you think of the electoral college process?
(I agree with a lot of your politics, so I'm wondering what your opinion on that is.)
I'm not sure I agree with it. I think it would be easier if whoever won the popular vote won the election. THat way, there is no targeted campainging to certain states with a lot of votes...
If we did away with the Electoral College and went with a "Popular" vote, it wouldn't necessarily mean candidates no longer target/campaign states with a lot of votes, I think the opposite would happen, the candidates would ramp up their efforts to win those heavily populated States because it would mean more votes for less effort/expenditure.
I can't honestly say, but it seems to me that getting 10 million votes from 1 state would take less effort, and less campaign funds, than getting 10 million votes (combined) from 5 states.
I think a far more honest way of doing it is getting rid of the electoral college and weighting each State equally, meaning the winning candidate would be the one who wins the most States.
Did you know: if John Kerry had won Florida (in '04), he would have been elected President despite carrying 10 fewer States, and with 3 million fewer Popular Votes, than G.W.
