Are you stupid or what?

PREPARE FOR A RANT

I just read this most interesting story on Fox News about high school seniors in Florida. I know you will find it intriguing as well. Here are a couple of noteworthy quotes:

“Baldwin said high school students who fail the FCAT usually have problems in the other areas required for graduation — grade point average and class credits. But Siplin said he is "morally opposed" to the test because the material is foreign to otherwise good students. He said college-bound students are "being held back" because of the requirements. He has so far been unsuccessful in getting a bill passed that would allow parents to examine the test, as well as their child’s answers.”

Ok, this guy is apparently some kind of an idiot. What do you mean, “The material is foreign to otherwise good students.”? That is an oxymoron right there. It is impossible to be a good student if you don’t know the material.

Likewise as you’ll see below, they have 6 chances to pass the test. If they and their parents aren’t aware of the material being tested over the course of like 8 years, then they’re just stupid.

Let me explain something to you. If you’re failing a test, you are not “being held back” because of the requirements. You are being held back because you are stupid. I am by no means a smart person, but I’ve put my time in school in, and let me tell you something, it requires a lot of hard work and effort. School and the education process are not supposed to be easy.

"There is something wrong with the integrity of the FCAT," state Sen. Gary Siplin (search), D-Orlando, an early detractor of the FCAT requirement. The FCATs are administered to Florida students in grades 3 through 10. By the time they are seniors, students get a total of six chances to pass the test, and have more opportunities starting in June if they miss graduation”

Good Lord, if you’ve been given the chance to pass a test like 6 times…. And you haven’t passed it…. Maybe going to college is not the thing for you. Which, is not a big deal. There are plenty of successful people out there who never went to college.

Complete Story

I use to joke around a lot about running for some kind of public office, but maybe I really should. The insane ignorance brought forth in this story must not be allowed to continue to proliferate in these positions of authority.

END RANT.

Thank you. LOL
