I love it!!
Ok, yes I just signed on with one company and got a huge pay increase… BUT, I was just informed…word on the street is a new govt job position is fixing to come open here and I’m being strongly urged to apply for it.
You know this is like sick… if I apply for this new position, get the job, and get the salary I know they’ll offer me I will have managed to increase my salary somewhere in the neighborhood of 50% since I left Boeing at the first of December. I’ll tell you what, leaving Boeing was the best decision I ever made!
I’m not sure what the ‘moral’ thing to do is. On my offer letter/contract, the clause states that it’s “AT WILL” and then says either party may terminate employment without prior notice at any time, and that I have no obligated length of employment.
On the flip side though, I know this team desperately needs my help and they are depending on me to be here… I’ve been doing so much work (currently managing 20 tasks) and everyone here knows it.
I just don’t know what to do.

The moral thing to do is to give a notice. Being someone who has left a job for another and it didn't work like I thought it would, I was able to return to my previous job because I left on good terms. If you leave immediately without a notice, trust me, they will hate you and you won't have that job as an option in case you "leave" this new one and would like to go back. Does that make sense, because now that i go back and look at it, it's a little confusing. But to sum up my point, never assume that because something offers more money that it will be worth it, you need to have a back up plan, leave a notice =)
