Yesterday evening was spent packaging and labeling DVD’s and VHS tapes for shipping.
While doing that, I watched my Dream Theater DVD. While I enjoy the bands music… their lead vocalist gets on my nerves in a live setting… just like the Rush in Rio DVD. I also caught part of the Steve Vai Live at the Astoria DVD. I’ll tell you what, that thing looks like something ‘we’ (LMV) would have put together (meaning decent, but you can tell it was done with pro-sumer gear… and the audio quality is lacking). When I compare that video to the G3 Denver video…. The difference in professional video/audio crews and equipment is highly obvious.
After that, I ended up spending about 3 hours with just Stevie last night. I haven’t done that in a while. I wanted to work really hard on getting acquainted with 1-b3-4-5-b7, and what that really means.
Today I went and saw Larue and let him know that I will need his help soon Of course, I’ve got my work cut out for me. I’m not necessarily trying to top my Steve Vai tribute song which broke all kinds of technical and theory ground for me personally (I’m playing in Phrygian Dominant mode here?), but I have added a few new tidbits to the repertoire. I’ve been aiming to play for 3 to 4 hours a night, simply because I’ve found it is taking me a good hour to hour and a half to just warm up and get the fingers loose these days.
Anyways, while talking to him, this cute blonde girl walked out from this door and I’m like, “I know that girl”. So Larue calls her over. It was Katy, Moriah’s friend. She gave me the rundown on what happened Saturday night at Chris’s… I should have gone. Oh well. Win some, Lose some.
Something else, it turns out Cedric’s wife works in the same building I do… and I’ve done work with her already and I had no idea she was his wife. Small world. I was telling Larue where I worked and what I did, and he was like, “Do you know Tania?” and I was like yeah… he was like, that’s Cedric’s wife. I was like what the crap? LOL kewl
In other news, Cassie is still trying to negotiate some days off for the New York trip in September.
The beach trip is still on for the 20th. Sarah said she definitely wants to go, so that’ll be cool. It’s going to be: Shane, Me, Jeff,…. and her. I hope she is bringing some single friends, because that arrangement could be weird. Oh wait.
I’ve been really busy at the office this morning, so I gotta get back to it. Ciao.
