I’ll volunteer.

Today at lunch I was reading the “Money” section of USA Today, and for some reason the “Life” section was bundled with it. The lead story described how for $75/hour, you (a parent) can hire a “fashion assistant” to help your pre-teen/early teen pick out clothes that are hip and cool.

Now, the picture that accompanies the story in print is of a 14 year old girl, her 30-something mother (insert acronym as appropriate), and then this 70 year old looking woman (aka fashion consultant). In this picture the girl is holding up a mini-skirt “that would make a cheerleading skirt look matronly.”

Indeed, I am amazed, and disturbed, at what these young kids wear these days. It’s no wonder they begin practicing making babies before they turn 13. Slutty dress habits along with absolutely no moral upbringing and sense of self respect. It’s quite a dilemma parents face in this day and age. Are you up to the challenge?

Without question, some parents need to be instructed on how to properly raise a child. This could be a new section of the advice website to work on… Parenting 101: Doing it The Right Way... I’ll have to ponder this further and consult with a few other people.
