Some of the top news stories today revolve around the USA Men’s basketball team beating Angola. In these articles the phrase, “Dream Team” is used as the name for the team. Does this idiom apply for the current assemblage of purported basketball players? I do not think so. The original “Dream Team” consisted of the top 11 basketball players at that time…. Including the greatest of the era, Michael Jordan.
Do we have the top 11 basketball players now? No. Do we have 5 of the best basketball players now? No. Do we even have the ‘best’ basketball player of this era, Kobe Bryant (or Shaq?). No.
Then what do we have? I have no idea, but it’s not a “Dream Team”. It’s more like a, “Oh God, wake me from this nightmare where we can’t play either offense or defense Team”.
In other news, I’m feeling a whole lot better after sleeping from 9:30 pm-6:00 am last night. Just getting back from a midmorning trip to the airfield. Haven’t gotten a whole lot accomplished today due to the insane amount of email traffic.
