This doesn’t happen everyday

You know, I have quite a good bit of knowledge on a huge range of topics, as the opposing team found out earlier this year when we played Cranium at the lake house.

You want to be financially stable, I’ve got the answers
You want to make the most informed decision on who to vote for, I’ve got the answers.
You want to know about the keys to a good life, I’ve got the answers.
You want to know about art, music, and entertainment, I’ve got the answers.
You want to know about world history, I’ve got the answers
You want to know about sports trivia, I’ve got more answers than you might assume.

However, if you have a serious health problem of any sort, I am not the person you want to be around if said health problem chooses to make itself evident.

Today at lunch, the guy sitting 2 barstools away from had a heart attack.

If there is any topic and question I don’t have the answer to… it’s “What do you do to a person who has had a heart attack?” I have absolutely no idea. All I could do was sit there as he fell to the floor.

Good Lord it all happened so quick. I was sitting there reading my paper. I heard a clanking and then crashing sound, and out of my periphery vision, I thought he had spilled his bowl of soup. Next thing I knew, the barstools in between us came my way and he was on his way to the floor.

I can not even begin to explain the feeling of sheer helplessness I felt at that moment. Everything seemed to slow down and I couldn’t move.

Fortunately, Scott is a former EMT and the 2 guys sitting near me were also medically knowledgeable… and they were able to do something until the ambulance arrived. His pace maker kicked in once he hit the floor. He appeared to be coherent and was able to call his wife.

Good Lord, that whole thing just freaked me, and everyone else, out.

I’ll tell you what… if you have more than a simple cut which requires a band aid… you’d better hope there is someone other than me around.
