Day 1 of Being 31 Years Old

I am now 1 hour and 17 minutes into being 31 years old... it doesn't feel that much different from being 30 so that's good. You know, I'm glad that we age gradually as opposed to like... Ok, blam, you're 31 and now have gray hair and some more wrinkles.

The day got off to a wonderful start by me sleeping in until 11 am. I then learned I had received 2 phone calls from headhunters who were interested in talking to me about jobs. I had some free time this week, and updated my resume' online, so I guess it must've alerted these people, because that makes 3 calls total in 24 hours about jobs.

As noted below, I finished up the Jeff and Kyle show 10th anniversary show, Christmas Special 2 this afternoon. Then it was time for dinner at the Moulton Steakhouse with my folks. Great food. Lil Booty came over and we hit up Jack's house for a church party get together. Then Playboy called and said he was going to The Jazz Factory to see Roy. Then Jeff called and said they were getting ready to come to Decatur.

Finally, met up with everyone at Logan's for a delicious dinner around 9:00 PM. I'd like to give a shout out to the Logan's people... Brandie, Shanna, Andrea, Emily: Thanks for the embarressment.... mooch-o love to ya. You guys are great!

Shama, Bunny, Jeff, Hannah, Lee, and Roy, great fun hanging out with you guys tonight at Logan's, and The Jazz Factory. Hope you were all entertained!

1 day down... 364 to go.

Still have no idea what's going to happen tomorrow. Guess it'll be a last minute decision because of the reason which has created a situation that requires attention. I have no idea what I'm talking about. It's now 1:30 AM Saturday morning and I'm tired.

My Final Thoughts.

... relax... my final thoughts for the year 2005... not my final thoughts because it's my final night on the face of the earth.

If you've been visiting my site for more than one day, you probably noticed my friends and I eat out all the time. This morning I was listening to The Russ and Dee show on 101.1 FM out of Birmingham, AL. They were discussing restaurant horror stories. One of these stories was about seeing a guy come out of a bathroom stall, not washing his hands, going straight into the kitchen, and then preparing a salad for the customer who witnessed the employee not wash his hands. Ewwww! It really makes you stop and wonder, "How clean are these people back in the kitchen who are preparing my food?" I think we need to re-evaluate our eating habits. Seriously!

For Christmas, Lil Booty gave me the book entitled, "Wild At Heart" by John Eldredge. I've heard Dave Ramsey mention this as a good book to read. I believe the book provides life advice and its goal is to help guys become real men. So, I'm perplexed as to why she gave this gift to Buzz, Bone, and I, because we are the essence of men. You will not find more manly men anywhere! Ok, I'm late for my back massage at the spa.

Can you believe we are in the final week of 2005? Why is it, the older we get, the faster the years go by? It seems like just yesterday we were all in Nashville celebrating a wonderful New Year's for 2005. . . . or rather, we were all standing in the parking lot of Opry Mils Mall at 11:30 PM trying to figure out what to do. Now, -that- was an adventure: Playboy, Roy, Bone, Lil Booty, The Cassinator, Johan, Buzz, Megan, and myself. Finally, we ended up at The Cassintor's place at 4:00 AM. I can't wait to see what fun we are all going to have for New Year's 2006!

We'll be offering a special Jeff and Kyle show DVD in 2006. This festive DVD will provide you with hours of enjoyment. Relive the excitement of "The First Festivus" and check out, "The Opryland Hotel: We brought women this time" special feature. Also included will be never before released footage before Jeff and Kyle were multimedia icons. If you find the Easter egg you can watch, "Christmas at Lil Booty's", featuring a special appearance by Kevin!" You won't want to miss this amazing opportunity! Only $10.00! What a great gift for yourself or any fan of the Jeff and Kyle show! Start shopping now for next Christmas!

Kind of going back to what I said earlier, I met up with J-mo, Playboy, and Johan tonight for dinner at Applebee's. Ran into Meri there. We seem to see her a lot there. Then towards the end of dinner, one of the Dead Lobster hotties came in. We need to add Dead Lobster back into the rotation. Anyways, I gotta work on some things here. Hope you all have a good week!

The Day After

I mentioned this the other day... It just really didn't seem like the Christmas season at any time over the past 48 hours. At this point, it kind of got lumped into the category of, "It's just nice to be off of work for a while." So, I've pretty much laid around a lot and surfed the net. I went to some Christmas parties, bought friends gifts and such, had holiday meals with people... but something is just amiss this year, and I don't know what it is. Speaking of meals, it'll be time to eat dinner with more friends who are in town in about an hour.

Last night Bone called me up and was excited about receiving a classic Atari 2600 type game console from Buzz and Megan. So I cruised over to his place around 7:30 pm and we played Pong! ... ummm... for quite a while. I guess you'd say we were easily entertained. The pic on the left shows some of the other classics we played. You can contrast this by considering, Kevin called around 8:30 pm and said he and J-mo were playing XBOX 360 at his place.

After meeting up for lunch at Logan's today, a bunch of us went out this afternoon looking for ACB (After Christmas Bargains). Suprisingly, the mall wasn't very busy. Ran in to the Playboy and Roy there (from the Jeff and Kyle show) , and Roy expressed his interest in making an in studio appearance in the very near future. Hopefully, we can work that out for our fans!

Hope everyone had a Merry Christmas, and we hope to bring you one more soon-to-be-considered classic episode of The Show in the coming days... before heading to Nashville for New Year's 2006.

Christmas Eve Happenings

Only one more day until Christmas. I was talking to a friend of mine yesterday at the mall, and she mentioned she wasn't in to the spirit this year. Then last night, someone made the comment about how, none of us really seemed to be in the spirit either. Things seem to be different this year. The Christmas lights in the neighborhood are fewer and farer between. I'm not sensing happiness and joy in a lot of people. It's just kind of weird.

Nonetheless, we did something new today, and got a bunch of the guys together for lunch at Applebee's. You know how it is... always with your girlfriend and stuff... need a break and some space every now and then. So the picture here is us after a hearty meal! You're looking at 4 satisfied men, and 3 of our favorite waitresses.

After lunch we ran over to J-mo's so Johan could check out the new drums. Fun times. I played the PSP... 720 and Xybots while that was going on. I love 720!! Plans for tonight? ... Logan's and probably a movie or something.

To your left is a picture of "The Festivus Pole" in Bone's frontroom. Props to Bone for throwing quite the gathering tonight at his place. Good times and it was nice to meet some new people and see old friends. Unfortunately, no one I invited could come. Of course, none of them were into Seinfeld, until the last person I talked to, who when I said I'm going to a Festivus party at 7:00 PM, replied, "For The Rest of Us?" It was at that point I knew I had a real potential player to join the fun. But alas, she already had plans. So that sucked. I'm sure Bone and J-mo will post pix. I shot about 25 minutes of video of the events which will be compiled into a feature DVD and will be sold through the company for $10.00/each.

Here are a couple pix that J-mo just transferred to me over IM.

Props to J-mo for setting up the camera and taking all the photos tonight. Of course, Bone and Bunny had their cameras, but I think we'll be using the J-mo shots for promos etc. They seem to have come out better for some reason. Oh yeah, his camera cost 10x what anyone else's did. Here we are, gathered in the kitchen, after having moved the giant table of food out of the way.

When J-mo sent this over, a note that said, "Preach It" was attached. Yes yes... it looks like I'm giving a Sunday morning sermon, preaching hellfire and damnation! "The only people who can save you now are..."
In reality, this is me doing my airing of grievences... I'm not sure if I'm yelling at Shane and Melody for always being late, yelling at Jeff for not sending me actual directions on how to get to his house, or yelling at Bunny, Cassie, Brandie, and all the other girls who don't answer the phone when I call, or don't return my calls after I leave a voicemail.

The one thing I want for Christmas.. or my B-day

Holy Freak!! G3 in TOKYO!! I just saw this on Steve Vai's website... it's only $10 from amazon.com.... This would be an awesome Birthday present (Dec 30th) Hint Hint!! ROFL

G3 on Amazon Link

Steve Vai
Joe Satriani
John Petrucci
Mike Portnoy
Billy Sheehan
Tony MacAlpine

That is just too awesome!!

Doe, a deer, a female deer
Ray a drop of golden sun. There is a narrow road out of my subdivision that winds itself behind our local mall. This morning, I saw 3 deer standing at the tree line, about 100 feet from the road. They were standing in a line, and appeared to be sniffing each other. Nice.

When Nisha, Shama, Kunal, Sandy and I were returning from The Florida Keys New Year's 2003 trip. It was January 2nd and Kunal was driving into the subdivision where Sunil lived. This subdivision was built on rolling hills right off of the Atlanta bypass. As we cruised in to the area, a herd flock pack group of 9 deer sprang up the hillside a few car lengths in front of us, and then dashed across the road. If he wouldn't have been paying attention, we'd have eaten deer meat for dinner.

That also reminds me, we pulled out of Islamorada on Jan 1st. Obviously, there had been a lot of alcohol consumed the night before. Although, none of it was consumed by me., oddly. 30 minutes in to the ride, Sandy says, "Can you pull the van over, I feel kind of sick." Then about 30 seconds later…. Yeah… you know what happened. What a lovely way to start an 18 hour drive home.

The things girls say to guys
Last night I overheard the following conversation:

Dude: "Maybe we could catch a movie next week."
Girl: "Well right now, I'm kind of seeing someone . . . . I think"
Dude: "Ok I figured if you were involved that would come out."
Girl: "Yeah, but I may have to take you up on your offer."

What the freak kind of conversation is that? "I think I'm seeing someone." Sounds fishy to me.

What are you getting me for Christmas?
Last night, I was talking with a friend who asked what I wanted for Christmas this year. Honestly, I haven't though a lot about it, because there is nothing that I want. Well, the one thing I do want, no one else can get for me... although J-mo did a good job trying the other day when he talked to Brandie about the situation because of the reason since the circumstances which surrounded the situation were not clearly defined. You follow? Hoot Hoot

Odd Behaviors, everyone's got 'em.

Our idiosyncrasies define us. Avid readers of my site are well familiar with most of mine, but here's a new one you may not know about.

Late into the afternoon at work, I found myself in dire need of a Dr. Pepper. Fortunately, the company I work for supplies us all the drinks we want. This is my little stash in one of my storage cabinets.

As I pulled a Dr. Pepper off from the mother 6-pack, I tapped on the top of the can. One guy 2 cubes down heard me tapping on the lid, and came down to tell me, both of his kids do that too. I explained to him that, I started doing it about a year ago for no apparent reason. The only explanation I could offer was, I was crazy, which he believed. Oddly.

Is there a purpose for tapping on the lid?

Wednesday Excerpt
"None of these programs can open up these pictures."
"You'll probably have to open up Microsoft Word and drag them into there"
"Microsoft Word? Do I have that on here?"
"Yes, you know, that thing we use to type in"
"Oh… now how do I find that? Where is it?"
"Mine's on my desktop, yours may be on your start menu"
Long silence "Start menu? Ok, I think I found it. Now what?"
"Take one of the pictures from that folder and just drag it onto the blank page."
"Ok, I think I got it."

(eyes rolled up in head, mouth open, as head bobs backwards over back of chair)

Razors and old people
I would wager that most everyone has seen the new Motorola Razr Cell phones. During lunch, a 1000-year old man came in to the bar and sat beside me. He began to tell me about his new cell phone. It was his first cell phone and was one of those Razr's. How is it that Methuselah has a cooler cell phone than me?

Along those lines, I read in USA Today that 2006 is the year industry experts expect the cameras in camera phones to be good enough to actually replace the common pocket type camera. That would really be great for me, and all of you regular readers!

The Theater Reopens.

It was recently brought to my attention that a movie was to be viewed at my house. However, the problem with that was, my home theater was in a state of disarry because I needed the VCR and DVD player for a video project I was working on in the studio.

A lot of stuff was disconnected and wires were moved etc. I spent nearly an hour tonight getting everything back in proper working fashion, for the next time a movie viewing is to take place at my house. Also, I made sure my Sega Genesis/32X -AND- Original 8-bit Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) clone were hooked up, which will provide hours of classic video gaming fun!!

Gettin' fat. Who me?
The idea of people bringing in food to the office is now catching on at a feverish pace. Today someone brought in chips 'n' dip. If you don't hear from me again you'll know that I was correct in my previous post, and someone here at the office killed us all off. Doesn't that just get you in to the Christmas spirit?

Speaking of Christmas Spirit, I met up with Bone in Huntsville yesterday afternoon for a little Christmas shopping. We discovered that it is becoming increasingly difficult to buy gifts for people who are married. Anyone else notice this happening? Why is everyone getting married? Apparently we missed that memo.

At one point, we found ourselves in Spencer's. I remember when that use to be the coolest store. Now, I look in there and think, "What a bunch of junk." Hot Topic is the Spencer's of the new millennium. They had Thunder Cats t-shirts. Thunder Cats! Ho! What a great cartoon!

Free food and goodies.

This morning at work, one of the secretaries sent out a mass email describing the types of food she had brought in for everyone to eat. This included: sausage balls*, chocolate candies, chocolate yellow cake, and sausage links. Whenever I receive an email proclaiming that someone has brought in food, I always think two things, in the following order.

(1) I wonder if their cooking utensils and apprarti were cleaned properly before beginning to prepare said food items.

(2) I hope this person is happy with their job and has a good home life at holiday time. Meaning: I hope they didn't make all this food and slip in cyanide or some other lethal chemical in an attempt to kill us all at the office just before the holidays.

Now, I bet you're sitting there thinking, "Hmmm… you know… he's got some valid points there." Or "Good Lord, this dude is crazy." Either way, you'll never be able to look at office food the same way again. ^_^

Think about it, how well do you really know your co-workers?
Are you positive they maintain a clean kitchen?
Have you looked at their medical records to see how many trips to the psychologist they've made?
What if they're secretly a member of the new order of the Branch Davidian East cult?
If it's a woman, is she just getting out of a relationship at holiday time? ... and thus currently hating all men?

These are the kinds of questions you need answers to.

* One of my favorite all time Saturday Night Live skits, is the one where the two ladies host the holiday radio talk show, and they have that guy on their talking about his Schweaty balls, and how his Schweaty holiday balls are here for their enjoyment. Bone, Little Bootay and I were in the floor in tears when we watched that. We might have to bust out with that DVD at the Festivus party Friday night.

A festivus for the rest of us.

Here is a random picture taken from the plane ride over to Hawaii last month. I believe this is part of the Rocky Mountains. Beautiful! I love my 4 MP Olymus C3030, but it's approaching 4 years old and I think it's time to get a new digital camera. Not sure what direction to move on that thought at this point.

As you can see from the other pictures below, this has been yet another jam packed weekend. Between video work and more video work, Bone and I did get out last night for some Christmas shopping and also some prep work for the Festivus Party next Friday. That's going to be a lot of fun I'm sure.

At one point I said, "Good Lord I hate this time of year." To which Bone replied, "Glad to see you're in the holiday spirit!" I think at this point, I'm just going to give everyone cash for Christmas. It's so much easier than going out and trying to buy something for everyone. Besides, that way, people can get what they want or need.

I found myself at Applebee's twice yesterday. First at 4:00 pm with J-mo after the first Nutcracker show, and then again around 9:30 pm with both Bone and J-mo, after the second Nutcracker show. Crazy times for sure.

Back to video work!

Taking a cue from such sucessful organizations "Martha Stewart Living" and "Nike INC", Look Mom Videos uses sweat shop labor. Here we see Bone diligently working hard organizing some boxes we plan to use for separating the 500 DVD cases we put together, which you see on the couch. My original plan was to have all four of us (Myself, Bone, Shane, and Melody) working in assembly line fashion. But, for some reason that never materialized, so Bone and I ended up doing all that ourselves. Hoot Hoot.

The birth of a non-descript infant

Did you guys here the politically correct rendition of "O Holy Night" on the Glenn Beck program? I haven't laughed that hard in a while.

Oooooo Night.. when non-descript infant was born…
Oooooo Night... the supernatural beings with wings..

That is some good stuff right there.

At work, I noticed one office had decorated their hall with all kinds of things about "love", "peace", "forgiveness", and the ultimate gift. Upon closer inspection I realized the writing on a scroll was a verse from the Bible. Then when I stepped back, it all came together... all these helicopters carrying these sayings were leading up to the ultimate sacrifice that Christ gave by dying on the cross for forgiveness of our sins. This is quite a paradox. I work for the government. The government is trying to get Christianity out of this holiday. Yet here in our very office is a huge display of it. Interesting.

Oh, and Merry Ramahanakwanzmas!

Are all girls directionally challenged?
Yesterday, we were all kickin' back in the sauna. Mike and Steve were giving Lisa a hard time about her second ever solo trip to Huntsville. She's only 22 and mentioned her parents really sheltered her and wouldn't even let her drive on the beltline, much less go to Huntsville on her own.

On the way home, she had gotten confused and somehow headed towards Scottsboro instead of Decatur. She called up Steve and was crying because she didn't know how to get back to Decatur. I was like, "Good Lord it's an interstate, you can only go East or West, just take an exit, get back on, and go the other way."

This is not the first time I've heard of this phenomena. Is it some kind of natural in-born thing where girls can't tell North from South, or East from West?

Trading Spouses, always a barrel of fun!
I couldn't believe how the 3 teenage girls were acting on that show. Not only were they disrespectful to each other and the adults, it seemed like every other sentence contained the F-word. I was like, "I see 3 kids who need a beating."

"Beating" is a term several of us have come up with which refers to good old fashioned Corporal Punishment (CP). We don't literally mean physical beating with your fists or anything... just a good old swat on the butt, maybe an ear pinch, or smack on the hand with a ruler.

I had all those done to me when I was in grade school. I remember one time in 4th grade, we were studying Alabama history (Boooooooooring), so my friends and I in the back of the room were kind of whispering and talking, when we were suppose to be reading. The teacher came up and smacked me on the hand with a ruler. $$%#%#&!@ that hurt like a mother. LOL But guess, what, I quit talking.

My personal favorite in-school punishment was having to write sentences. I went through a major phase of this in the 7th and 8th grade when I was in private school. I wish I could remember what I had to scribe, but I recall filling up, front and back, about five or six 8.5 x 11 sheets of paper on more than one occasion.

Then there was the paddling. I think I only got swatted 2 or 3 times . Remember the paddles with the 1/2" holes drilled in them? Yikes. LOL

I'm not sure what any of that has to do with Trading Spouses, but are you now fondly recalling your days in grade school?!

Fun with Numbers!

In case you can't see it... this is a picture of an accounting text book lying on my computer desk. The book is divided in to two parts. Each being approximately 600 pages. I have about 10-pages to go in "Rich Dad/Poor Dad" and I think I'm going to finish that up tonight, and begin with Chapter 1 of the accounting text book. Yes yes... I am one sick individual. Reading an accounting text book for fun.

Tuesday, December 13, 2005

Well that sucks, moving forward

As I walked down the long narrow hallway, my fingers were eager with anticipation to set up my gear and begin practice. Once I entered the room, I began to unzip my keyboard bag. Dave announced, "No need to do that tonight, we need to talk." Ah yes, those favorite words that you know are going to lead you into a discussion you would rather not partake in.

He then proceeds to say that he can no longer play in our band, and goes in to all the details, which I will not go into here. Suffice to say, now we have no bass player/lead singer/guy with all the sound gear/guy with all the live sound knowledge.

The fact that he plays the bass, and does 85% of the vocals…. That is going to be difficult, if not impossible to replace with one person. That was what made us unique in my mind, it was 4 guys doing about 8 parts simultaneously. Also, we built our entire "stage methodology" around his sound system, which involves using no on-stage amps, but rather everyone (Except drums) plugging-in direct to the mixer. Making set up and take down really simple, while providing maximum sonic punch in a live setting.

We soon found ourselves discussing options over dinner. Confronted now with the purchase of sound reinforcement gear and a wireless audio system for each of us… we’re talking a major unexpected expenditure. The plan is to continue on as a 3-piece and do what we can as the search begins for most likely 2 new musician’s.

You spend a somewhat significant portion of your life with a group of guys in a band dedicated to a cause… you develop a certain camaraderie. I have so much respect for those guys, because they are not only amazing musicians who kick tail, but are also great individuals. I am really thankful they let me be a part of this adventure, because I am no where near their level. It's like I said at one point, "I'm here to learn, so I don’t care what we play, as long as it’s incredibly difficult."

Let the search commence for a bassist and vocalist who knows these songs, or would like to learn them.

This is our first set as we do it today:

1. Genesis - Turn It On again (4:00)
2. Rush - Spirit Of The radio (5:00)
3. Joe Satriani - Sufing With the Alien (4:30)
4. Deep Purple - Knocking At your Back Door (7:00)
5. Joe Satriani - One Big Rush (3:30)
6. Rush - Limelight (4:30)
7. Steve Vai - For the Love Of God (6:00)
8. Triumph - Magic Power (5:00)
9. Deep Purple - Perfect Strangers (5:30)
10. The Police - Synchronicity
11. Led Zeppelin – Kashmir (8:40)
12. Yes - Love Will Find A Way (4:40)
13. Dream Theater - Pull Me Under (8:10)

And we want to add these to make set 2 and 3:

1. Dream Theater - These Walls
2. Dream Theater - Learning To Live*
3. Dream Theater - As I am*
4. Rush - Tom Sawyer
5. Rush – Subdivisions*
6. Peter Gabriel - Salsbury Hill*
7. Peter Gabriel - Shock The Monkey
8. Yes - Roundabout
9. Yes - Starship Trooper
10. Boston - Foreplay/Long time*
11. Queen - Bohemian Rhapsody*
12. Journey - Escape
13. David Lee Roth - Crazy From the Heat
14. Saga - On The Loose
15. Led Zeppelin - Battle of Evermore
16. The Police - Message in a Bottle
17. Blue Oyster Cult - Don’t Fear the Reaper

* already working on these

Two years ago, if you told me that I would be playing songs by Dream Theater, Rush, and Steve Vai out in public, I would have said you were insane. Even today, I can't believe that we're doing this. All we need to do now, is get over this one small hurdle.

Swing shifts

At the gym tonight, one of the guys on the machine behind me was talking about how he just started a new job, and is working swing shift: 12-hour days for 2 days, 2 days off, 12-hour nights for 2 days, and is off 1 day. Holy crap. That is one crazy schedule. How could your body ever adjust to that? Day is night, night is day.

Has everyone put up their decorations and other Christmas crap? Or even better... have you finished your shopping yet? I'm like, "No, and No", and time is running out! Maybe this weekend some of that can get taken care of.

Well I've got to work on this drum clinic video some more. Fun fun!

The Christmas Season

This past Sunday at church, Dave did a great job of relaying what this Christmas season is all about. It's not about all the commercial hype we see and hear. It's about giving and helping those in time of need. But, it's also important to remember that this shouldn't stop at Christmas time.

Listen to Dave give an excellent talk on the whole subject (Dec-11-2005 file)

I talk a lot on here about "how to make money" and "how to get rich"... without a doubt, the greatest reward of all the work and effort you go through is being able to bless those around you who need help. Rightfully so, there is much focus this time of year on neglected children and stuggling families, but I would also like to strongly encourage you not to forget our furry little friends at your local animal shelter. If at all possible, please make donations to your local humane society this Christmas season!

A couple of good books here.

I finished up "The Millionaire Next Door" last week and I'm now reading "Rich Dad, Poor Dad". Both of these books provide a great insight into how the rich live, and how they got to where they are.

What's fascinating is, most of those people you see living in large new homes, and driving nice BMW's and Benz's... they aren't wealthy. They may have high incomes, but they're not wealthy. It was interesting to see that the majority of millionaire's have never purchased a new vehicle. The key to becoming wealthy is limiting the amount of money you let leave your pocket, while maximizing income from multiple sources. If you listen to Dave Ramsey, a lot of his statistics he uses on his radio and TV show come from "The Millionaire Next Door".

Stop and look at where you are right now financially. Is it where you want to be? Do you know what to do to improve your financial state? If you answer no, then I highly recommend you read "The Millionaire Next Door".

Remember Dave's advice, "Don't take advice from broke people". If you want to be rich you must do what rich people do!

I am about 1/2 way through "Rich Dad Poor Dad" and it is more philosophical in nature and will mainly challenge you to think outside the box of what you've been taught all your life.

While I don't agree with his view on investing in real state (his process, not the idea itself.), the major info to learn out of this book is... the quickest way to get wealthy is to use all the accounting and legal loopholes that exist in our laws. To me, the most fascinating thing I've learned so far is, the advantage of using a corporation for running a business instead of another entity.

For "Middle Class" people, the process is : income -> taxes -> expenses
But for "Rich" people, the process is: income -> expenses -> taxes

That is HUGE in terms of building wealth, because essentially, all your day to day expenses are paid using pre-tax dollars, meaning you lower your actual level of income and pay less taxes!!!

Hence the power of incorporating a business... and believe me... we are fixing to take that next step to becoming wealthy!!

Foreplay/Long time

Hey hey! Don't worry, I'm still around! Everyone's been asking where I've been. Things are super busy here! Einstein, The Band, we had our first practice Tuesday night and it was not to shabby for haven't jammed for 18 months. Can't believe it's been that long. First gig is probably going to be at The Brick in April or May. Rock On. They want to do the classic Boston hit "Foreplay,Longtime"... so I've been learning that all week. Not to mention we're throwing in some Queen-Bohemian Raphsody and new Dream Theater songs! Crazy!

The video season is almost over, but we've still got a lot of items to ship out, not to mention one more big event on the 17th.

I had another job interview today, that's the 4th one in the past couple months. Hoot Hoot. It went well I think. We'll see how much $$$ they want to throw my way. LOL

As everyone saw on the AIM and YIM message for the Jeff and Kyle show, we'd like to get a feeling for any potential topics our faithful listeners might be interested in hearing us discuss. After all, we do the show for you!!

Ok, got a ton of things to do still and it's 11:45 PM.

Hope you all have a great weekend!

Earthquake in Hawaii!

Holy cow... you remember those signs I posted a couple weeks ago about "Dangerous hiking on the fresh lava flows"? ... This is why, 40+ acres collapsed into the ocean on the Big Island during an earthquake earlier this week!

It's crazy to think that I was out there near that!

----- Here are a couple of pictures from my trip -----
There were literally hundreds of cars parked along "Chain of Craters Road". It took us 20 minutes to walk to the beginning of the actual hike to the smoke plume, which you can see in the distance. That hike is itself about a 45 min to 1-hour hike.

This picture is hiking out on the lava flow. You can faintly see the lava off in the distance. It's a shame that this picture doesn't really convey how bright the lava lines actually were with the naked eye. It was just beautiful to see.

The Routine

Things are quickly getting back to normal for me, at least in terms of making the rounds. Yesterday, went to Logan's for lunch and then last night, after the drum clinic (where J-mo won a free drum pedal. hoot hoot!) we went to Hooters, and then when I got back in to Decatur, I went to Applebee's around 10:00 PM. LOL I'll tell you what, it was tough going without sweet tea for 15 days!

When I got home, I began working on the Hawaii photos. The real ones, not the cell phone ones. (just to clarify). You guys are going to love 'em once I finish getting them color corrected and enhanced. There will be a link down there on the left, with the other photos, so keep checking back. It may be early next week before I get them done.

The most amazing thing about the entire Hawaii trip was, I never got on a computer. That's unbelieveable! I didn't really miss it. I did at first, but after a few days, it was like, "Eh, no biggie." I liken it to when I decided to stop the satellite TV service. It was tough at first, but it's been nearly 3 years since I've had satellite TV, and I don't miss it at all. Anyways, point is, when I got back, I had nearly 200 emails in my Inbox, so I'll be responding to those as time permits.

I did read about 3/4 of the book, "The Millionaire Next Door", and learned quite a bit more than I thought I would. Based on numerous conversations I've had with my blog readers and friends, the majority of you are now into Dave Ramsey. The stats he quotes on his show, come from the research presented in this book. I highly recommed it to anyone who is interested in learning the methods of becoming financially independent.

The most interesting thing to me was making the distinction between high-income earners vs. high-net worth individuals. Just because you have a high-income, doesn't mean you are wealthy. Seems obvious, but the data presented in the book details how many millionaires make moderate incomes (say $50,000, which isn't very much) yet have net worths of several million dollars, while high-income earners ($150,000+) don't have any money saved. It truly is amazing. Get the book and read it today!

Sure, money isn't everything, but it's definately in the top 3.

I'm just now getting in from eating lunch at Applebee's. Gonna play the guitar for a bit and chill before heading to Nashville in a few hours.

Back In The Saddle

Allright! I'm back in Alabama! Why am I so excited? Yeah... I dunno either. The weather here sucks.

I went through the stats for last months show downloads, and once again, we've set a new record!! Thanks to everyone who listens and helps promote the show. If it wasn't for you guys, we wouldn't even have a show! LOL Hoot Hoot!

I'm going to go unpack and what not. Meeting J-mo for lunch in a bit, then I gotta be in Huntsville tonight to film a drum clinic at Railroad Bazaar. Rock On.
