month 2 of daddyhood.
Here we are two months into this adventure and I am quite pleased at my daddy progress.
I always wondered when I had kids how I would handle all the diaper changing and drooling and all that kind of stuff. It's really not too bad, when it's your own kid I guess. Last week we kept the nursery at church. I'm not so sure I'll be doing that again. I don't mind stepping out of my comfort zone, heck, I got married. lol But a full hour of multiple babies is a tad much.
I've been working so much lately that in the back of my mind I wonder if it is worth it. I mean, my intentions are noble, pay off the house since it is our last debt and do it in the next 2 or 3 years. That way, we can travel. When I was young my parents and I went to Hawaii every year. As soon as we get out of debt, that is something I want to resume with the family. But, not just travel to Hawaii, but all the cool places in America.
At the same time I am working to achieve all these lofty goals, I am missing time that I can never get back with Brayden. Grant it, he isn't doing much now, but I love holding him and carting him around when I am home from work. We have chats... he tells me about his day and I tell him about mine. We talk about music and politics, even though I am the one doing most of the talking and he responds with coo's.
He has really begun to smile a lot in the past couple weeks. It makes me very very happy inside to see my little buddy smile.
I need to start reading to him at night before he goes to bed. I wonder if Glenn Beck's book is a little too heavy for his age. Just kidding. We have some books that would probably be just right for him.
It's amazing to see how little ones change your lives. I find it odd planning vacations for "family" instead of 2 people. Room for 4 instead of a room for 2. It's different but good. Long gone are the days of going out and staying out all night. I've become a responsible, somewhat, father. It's just crazy that to think 3 years ago, none of this was even on the horizon.
I find I spend most of my day at the office wondering what Brayden is up to. You'd think with technology the way it is, we'd be able to hook up a video camera and I be able to not miss anything while at work. That would be cool.
Maybe if we switch to iphone's, that may be more possible with video messaging!

This is why.
I didn't want to have cable TV at my house when I built it...
It's 11:00 PM and I am up watching TV.
What's even crazier than me being up past 9 PM is, this is the 3rd night in a row I've been up late. Thursday, I didn't get in bed until 1 AM, last night I got in bed at midnight, and now tonight I do not know how long I'll be up.
I have this thing for Sci Fi. I am addicted. Always have been. But with no cable it helps keep the addiction in check. However, with the Halloween season upon us, there are some seriously messed up movies on.
Horror movies.
What is my fascination with these? I don't know.
Thursday night I was up watching Final Destination 3.
Last night I watched, "I still know what you did last summer"
This afternoon I watched some movie about a killer tooth fairy or something. I was going to watch "Species" but the kid came into the room, andI know that is definaely not a kid friendly movie because I've seen it like 5 times.
Now I'm on the couch watching something on FUSEtv called "feardotnet" about these people who see their deaths on a website and then they come true or something.
Last week, I had Jawana call and cancel all of our premium movie channels... good thing too, because there are a ton of movies on there that I would be up watching if we still had, HBO, Showtime, and Cinemax.

Who will win the Presidential race?
I do not know, but I do know that I am sure blood is about to start shooting out of my eyeballs as I sit here on my couch and listen to these two guys answer these questions about tax cuts and the middle class. Someone get ready to call 911 for me.
It's absolutely agonizing.
I don't care if you are for McCain or Obama... either way they are both preaching socialism.
And, that spells doom for those of us who are working to get ahead.
It's a hayday for those people who are slackers.
My daughter wants me to say, "No Way, No How, No Obama!" lol
Well I guess I'm going to sit here and throw down a few Mountain Dews and eat some cookies. Maybe I'll go into a sugar coma.
I get tired of hearing people whine and complain about (1) high gas prices, (2) rising food costs, (3) shrinking retirement portfolios.
Sure it all sucks. I'm not denying that.
However, complaining doesn't solve anything. If all these people I hear whining would spend their time working some extra hours or picking up an extra part time job, it would help defray these extra costs until we can vote out the idiots and hopefully vote people into power who can make some changes for the better. (Along those same lines, make some freakin' sacrifices like not eating out as often, not going out to the movies as often, not buying name brand foods, not going to the mall every weekend and buying something etc.)
Of course, I don't think that is really going to happen unless Sarah Palin becomes Pres, so that's why I am working like freakin' crazy to get my family out of debt and stockpile some savings in a variety of places to help reduce the risk of not freakin' having anything. And by anything, I don't mean tvs and cars... I mean food, shelter, water, clothing, and transportation. The basics.

Letting Yourself Go
I have a hair cut appointment this afternoon.
Normally, this would not be a big deal, but here's the situation.
I got married nearly 11 months ago.
I have let myself go.
I hardly shave, have gotten fatter, and never "fix" myself up any more... a very manly phrase right there.
I use to take care of myself. Always dressed to the T, whatever that means. Alaways had myA-game on.
Now it's like I freakin' roll out of bed in the morning. Put on the same clothes I wore the previous day, go to work, try and make it to the gym (as of recent), come home, shower, put on my sweat pants... which I NEVER use to wear sweat pants or ANYTHING with an elastic waist.... eat dinner, watch tv (which I NEVER use to do), go to bed, read a bit, pass out.
Is this what being married does to you?
I do not like what I have become, am becoming.
I'm trying to get some sembelence of -the old Kyle- back.
The guy who was in shape, dressed up, and did stuff.... you know, the fun Kyle.
The other day when Jeff and I tried to do our radio show, I realized, I'm like not even really funny anymore. How did that happen?
Hopefully some of this will be rectified tonight with the haircut, and then subsequent dinner at Applebee's and tennis outing at the park.

Stocked up.
Now this is what i am talking about! In the cupboard i have soup, cereal, hamburger helper, water supply, chips, white bread, wheat bread, peanut butter. In the fridge, meat, cheese, fruit, milk, and orange juice. Now most of my day at the office will consist of cooking and eating, followed by going to the gym in the afternoon. Sweet.

My new office setup.
On the top is where i keep the bread, peanut butter, hamburger helper microwave packets, ramen, and assorted goodies. On the desk you can see the toaster oven i brought to work over the weekend while working overtime. To the left of the oven is where i usually have my laptop so I can work on stuff during lunch. Below is my large refrigerator which has deli meat, cheese, butter, fruits, and vegetables, and water. Years ago i wondered why people had all this stuff at their office. Now, i see. Its a huge time saver when you can come to work and eat breakfast and cook your lunch and not in out. It saves gas too. I am going to start bringing orange juice and milk so I can enjoy that in the mornings too as i surf the news sites. Well its about time for my mid morning snack. Let me go see what i can make!
