It's just another Manic Monday
Today was actually pretty good. Work went well. Although, not much was going on... which is a welcome change from the insanity that was Mon-Thu last week.
It was cold here, so I opted not to go to the gym today, and will go tomorrow when it's warmer. Played around with the FirePod some more and discovered that, using that AT condenser mic makes my acoutsic sound unbelieveable. Wow.
Made a brief run by Dilliards around 6:15 to check on sales. The extra 30% off signs were not present... sucky. Note, cute redhead working in the men's section. Met up with A1 and KS/K at New China in the Books A Million shopping center. That was different. Afterwards we headed to BAM and Office Depot. Ran into Eric and the kids at BAM. It was chess night for the kids up there at Joe Muggs. We ended up pulling up a table and reading books on a variety of topics, while sipping on our fancy drinks. It was very relaxing and a nice change of pace and scenery. Note, cute brunette working the coffee counter.
As we were getting ready to leave, A1 noticed a cute girl browsing books and made mention to her, that he thought she looked familiar. It was at this point, that it was learned she was a former hostess at Applebee's. I find this hard to believe, because she was pretty good looking, and I don't recall ever seeing her there... which is odd, seeing as how we use to eat there at least once a week. Anyways, she said she works at O'Charley's now, so I guess we'll be frequenting that joint in the coming weeks. When I was walking out, I stopped and said, "Allrighty, I guess we'll be coming by and harrassing you sometime in the coming week." She laughed and was like, "Well you won't be the first, all the drunk guys at the bar always mess with me." Good exchange.
Just got done talking to Sommer. She still needs some help and wants me to come over this week. So, I guess I'll be at her place tomorrow afternoon. Tag called and is having some issues, but thinks he can get Premiere working again. I've got more videos to ship out and copies to make. Ok, that's about it.

The JW Steakhouse
Finally, we're getting a new restaurant in Decatur.
Well, it's actually closer to Priceville, but nonetheless, it should be pretty good, since it's based on the Steak House in Moulton.

just another day
in paradise.... or hades, whichever.
Woke up at 9:00 AM and messed around with audio stuff all day. J-mo popped in to check out the firepod. Jeremy called in from Kalifornia, Shane called in from Knoxville. Bone came into town and we hit up The Brick. Met up with J-mo at Crapper Barrell for dinner around 8:30 PM.
I spent some time this afternoon, developing a "dating page" as shown on the right column. It's not pretty, but it's functional. I figure if I'm getting 1/2 million hits a year, surely some of them are single girls. Surely.
Ok, right now I'm listening to Dave Ramsey online... archives, you know. But, I'm fixing to go to bed. It's cold and kinda rainy here. Blah.

I got the rainy night blues
ok, not really, but that's a cool song idea.
Today was pretty good all the way around. Work was slow. One of the chicks I work with was all "reaarrrr" today. The other one was giving me a hard time saying stuff like, "All you do is wander around the halls, eat, and, drink." ... I couldn't deny that. Then 2 others were all over me for not bringing them something back from Chic-Fil-A. GOOD LORD. It was beginning to look like this was a "bad chick day". In the end, It didn't turn out that way. Thank goodness!
I think I'm going to step back in time (again) and learn "Love Song" by Tesla... and I'm not sure why. It's just been in my head a lot lately.
As noted in the post below, I spent most of this afternoon working with the FirePod. I think this is going to be one of the coolest things I've ever bought.
Disturbing conversation from tonight:
Girl 1: I know he has a good job...
Girl 2: Really? I think he lives at home with his parents still.
Me: He does? That's crazy.. he's like 28 or 29 and still living at home?
WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOoooooooooooooooooooooo!!
I don't know, I just found that unusually funny.

Test Audio
Ok, I hooked up the FirePod tonight for a test run to make sure it worked. What we've got here is a Carvin Legacy Amp and 4x12 cab cranked to 4, miced with one Shure SM57 running into the Firepod. The delay on the lead channel was a plug-in with Cubase.
This is kinda sucky... I should have warmed up first... oh well here you go.
There is one problem... I can't monitor thru the computer speakers, only thru headphones for some reason. I'll be working on solving that problem tomorrow.

Dating?
I like to think positive about relationships, but it is true that one never knows how they will turn out, especially when embarking on a new one. You know how it is. The, “getting to know you” stage is always the most strenuous. “Can she put up with my quirks?” “Can I live with her quirks?”… those age old questions of love and romance. This is why I advocate moving in together. j/k
I recently explained my simple dating rules. I have high, almost un-realistic it seems, expectations in my potential mate. But really, I don’t believe they’re too far out. Once a girl passes the initial physical attraction test, I only have one disqualifier:
(1) Smoking: If I see you smoking, you don’t even get a chance.
Other things I consider are:
(1) Religion: Got faith?
(2) Morals: A moral conscience is necessary
(3) Drinking: Only non-drinkers, or VERY light drinkers.
(4) Kids: Typically, no pre-existing rug rats are allowed.
(5) Career: Must be something respectable
(6) Issue Level: Is she over any past experiences? How does she handle herself? Is she on medication?
(7) Neediness Level: It better be low, Independence is sexy.
(8) Thoughtful Level: Does she offer to do nice things for me? Or even better, surprise me? If so, she’s a keeper.
(9) Articulation: Can she speak effectively? Communication is key.
(10) Kitchen Skillz: Can she use a pot and pan? If so, bonus points are awarded. That’s simply because I, myself, am not a formally trained chef.
(11) Financial Skillz: Does she understand the importance of saving for retirement? Does she know how to shop for bargains? What kind of vehicle is she driving compared to her income level? [this should really be #1 instead of #11, on this list]
(12) Fitness Level: Does she workout regularly? Is she concerned about the her body and does she work hard at keeping it looking good? [This should be #2, instead of #12]
(13) Policitcal stance: Lucky #13.... Conservative? I hope so.

Game Over
Finally wrapping up some of these old projects...
I'm working on the Blind Bart Riverfest video right now, so if you want a copy of that concert, they'll be available for $12.00 (includes the $2.00 shippping charge). Or, you can just go buy a DVD+R (ONLY +R) and you can get a copy.
Met up with Shama tonight and we're working on some new ideas with her and her voice over guy.
The wedding request madness has started. We've already received 3 so far this year.
We're getting fan mail at our business email for Bishop Black videos... I need to call them. Gah.
Something I'm going try and do this year is, spend less time online this crazy internet and more time in music. So with that, i'm out. cya.

The 3rd week
I can not believe that we are already at the end of the 3 week in 2005! Needless to say, if things keep going like they are, this is going to be an incredibly good year in my books... well as soon as the stock market picks back up. But other than that little flub-bub things are simply smashing. (Insert British Accent)
Church went well this morning and things definately got out of control on the last song, but it was good and crazy. This topic of money that we're studying is pretty interesting. There was one Bible verse in particular that talked about "a wise man leaves an inheritance to his children, he who does not is worse than in infidel" (or something to that effect).
You know, I don't care if you believe in God or not (well I do, but you know what I mean), but the principles of life that are illustrated in the Bible are useful to anyone. I was thinking about this tonight... I would venture to guess if more people put some effort into following the teachings of the Bible, we might live in a better world (on all levels). Call me crazy.
Afterwards it was off to Quizzno's. Good sandwich. Came home and organized my bazillion miniDV tapes somewhat. That took about 2 hours. Tag and I took care of some CD orders that came in, for a children's audio book that we 'manufacture' or whatever.
When I got home from lunch today, I read that Johnny Carson had died. I remember, I use to stay up late on school nights in high school and watch his monologue. Always good stuff. And you know what, it was "clean". It is possible to be funny cleanly. Sadly, it seems to be a lost art these days.
Well it was a pretty low key day all around. I'm going to bed.

The Tempurpedic Girl.
Bone came into town and we ended up in Huntsville. Hit up Madison Square Mall to check out any possible sales. Nothing special. Only 50% off and that is no where near enough of a discount on clothes.
There was a cutie working at the Tempurpedic store. I went in to find out the price on a Queen sized mattress... $1600.00. Hmmm. Ok. Looks like I'm gettting a new mattress. Anyways, she gave me her name and number so I can call and ask her questions about it.
Checked out Suncoast Motion Picture Company for new DVD's. Couldn't find anything I just wanted. They had Akira there.. for $34.99. Good Lord anime is expensive. Later at FYE, they had LOTR III with a Minis Tirith (sp) sculpture thing for $64.99. Heavens to Betsy, that's a lot. Decided against both obviously. I can't afford to spend that kind of money on entertainment.
Speaking of entertainment, we ended up at Hooters. I think we've just about achieved regular status there... and I'm not sure if that's good or bad. Our two favs were working, but we didn't sit with them :/ Heather saw us and came over and hung out for a good while, even though we were clear on the other side of the restaurant. I learned of a new drink tonight... Red Bull and Vodka. Interesting.
Anyways, she was all about my Movado. That's 2 nights in a row someone has noticed it. Although, she had no idea what it was... just thought it was cool. lol "I've never seen a watch like that before." and I'm thinking, "There's a reason for that....."
It is totally cold here. Ended up calling it a night early because of it.

Back To Normal
Everything is back to normal here. I've been totally slammed at work pretty much all week.
Wednesday, I worked all night on the DI Nutcracker video and got finished at midnight. Delivered it Thursday after work.
Thursday night, we had band practice. It was going well until we had a stranger come into the sanctuary asking for money. You can read Eric's thoughts on it, as he does a good job of bringing to light some important points on this matter. Afterwards, Kev J-mo and I headed to Crapplebee's. Food was decent which was a change from the usual crap we've been getting there.
Friday was a slow day at the office. Thank goodness. During lunch, I made a stop by a local music store and played one of the Steve Vai acoustic EP7's. Played nice, but it was made in Korea, and I wasn't all that hip to the finish job on it... especially for $1,300.00. Played more with the Korg Triton Extreme and now, I'm leaning back towards the Yamaha Motif ES7.
Friday night, Jeff came into town and we hit up the Brick, late. Got there right at 8:00 PM. As we were shooting pool, this one guy came in and wanted to play. I just won, and so he played me. I won the first game, and let him win the second game. or something. Shot till around 9:30 PM. 5 O'Clock Charlie was playing.
Hip up Logan's. Cruised by J-mo's to drop off "I Robot" (good movie btw) and then got home at like 11:00 ish.
Today I woke up at 9:00 AM. I've been fine tuning Larue's drum clinic and making Mpg2 files most of the day. Shama is on her way over to work on some stuff as well.
I have also spent a large portion of the day on the phone, fixing situations.
I ordered Steak-Out this afternoon, and had this great exchange with the cute Delivery Girl:
DG: "I know you!"
Me: "Wow, it's been a long time!"
[small talk]
DG: "So is this your place?"
Me: "No, it's my parents, they're out of town and I'm house sitting"

Is it just me?
…Or is there something wrong with this story?
As my friends know, the only topic I will not blog about revolves around girls that I truly like and the dates we go on, whether they be good or bad. However, I’m going to break this rule one time for this post.
There’s a girl I like, and naturally she’s fairly attractive. I was under the impression she and I were beginning to make a connection. On Saturday, I asked if she’d like to go out sometime and I asked for her number. With a perky enthusiasm, she said yes, and gave me her number. All is well. I'm happy and content.
Sunday morning I wake up and check my email. This other girl I know, that knows the hottie I want to date, had emailed me saying, the she had given me the wrong phone number by accident, and that her correct number was blah. The friend also told me, the hottie wanted to “explain something to me” before I called her and to come see her on Tuesday.
Immediately upon reading this, I knew something was amiss.
Today
After an apology and explanation for giving me the wrong phone number, I asked, “Is that everything you wanted to tell me?” and she was like, “Well there is one other thing... to be completely honest. I live with my boyfriend, soon to be ex-boyfriend, although he doesn’t know that yet.”
At that point I just about fell out of my chair.
This was followed with, “I got to thinking after Saturday night… I wasn’t sure if you just wanted to hang out, or go out on a date… because to not be scheming or anything, I could really only hang out with you. I’ve already told him, “If a guy named Kyle calls, it’s ok because we’re just going to hang out. I just didn't want you to be surprized when you called and a guy answered the phone.”
Deeeeehhhhhhhh Duuhhhhhhhh
My neural synapses were misfiring at that point.
Actually, I don’t recall what happened after that, and I’m not sure how I even made it from the restaurant to my house. I can’t even form a logical thought at this point.

Updates
I updated my main website today, including the music page with new gear pix. Go check it out.
The House
I've learned something over the past week, and that is, Microsoft Word is not the ideal program to try and do a floor plan in, but it can be done semi-successfully.
As you may know, I've been looking at houses for a few months now, and have put together a layout for what I believe I want my house to be like... because this is the year I'm finally going to get a new house. Of course, this assumes that everything goes according to plan over the next 3 months or so.
I've been working on this design pretty much off and on for about 10 days now, and I'm still making some revisions, but this will give the architect and design team something to go off of.
Check it out: Kyle's Home
Note the dotted line stuff on the right is "optional" at this point. I don't know if I'll actually be able to afford to finish those 2 rooms upstairs, but naturally I'd like to be able to.

Sunday Stuff
I got to church 10 minutes early for the first time ever today. Music was good and Dave did a good job discussing financial stewardship as it pertains to our lives. Good stuff.
Then it was off to Firehouse subs, which is what the pix below are from. I came home and vegged out the rest of the afternoon. Met up with J-mo at BAM around 3:30. Ate dinner with the folks and then headed to Kevin's around 6:00.
Met up with Lee at 7:30 and we headed to get Roy and meet Doyle at Hooters. I did run into Heather (J-mo: the cute curly headed blonde from RT's in Madison) there tonight. What an odd place to see her.
Semi-Related: We were discussing how Hooters is not a family restaurant, yet there were a number of kids <10 in there tonight. I already find it highly disturbing that I am eating there now... but bringing your wife and 2 kids to eat there? That's insane.
Then it was off to Firehouse subs, which is what the pix below are from. I came home and vegged out the rest of the afternoon. Met up with J-mo at BAM around 3:30. Ate dinner with the folks and then headed to Kevin's around 6:00.

Another Movie
I just got done watching "I Robot". That was pretty good.
Oddly, I'm not tired at all. Maybe it has something to do with the fact that I was basically in bed until noon.
It's like I always say, Life is good my friends... for someone, somewhere else.

The Greatest Day In The History Of The World
Slept until 11:30 AM. Got up. Sat Around. Played guitar. Watched Collateral. Good movie. Talked on the phone to people.
Jeff came over. Went to The Brick. Went to Logan's. Talked on the phone to more people.
Lee and Roy wanted to go to Huntsville. Too Tired. Went to J-mo's to get "I Robot". Now I'm home.
.... yep... the greatest day.

Old Friends
Ok, so today didn't turn out be a complete waste, thanks to tonight.
I played guitar for a couple hours after sitting on the couch most of the afternoon.
At 8:54 PM I decieded to call J-mo to see if I could borrow a movie to watch. I cruised over there and picked up "Collateral". My plan was to watch it tonight, but alas, at 9:10 PM I started to get hungry.
I headed over to the restaurant, but on my way, I noticed JS was at the studio so I stopped by. Hung out for a bit, and he let me borrow a movie as well, "Anchorman". He didn't like it..
She Spoke To Me.....
I pulled in to the restaurant at 10:15 PM. Walking to the front door, I noitced a waitress coming in from around the side of the building. It was dark outside, and she looked cute, so I was about to use the line, "Hey, shouldn't you be working?"... she busted out with, "You're Kyle aren't you?... I'm Holly... I use to wait on you at Ruby Tuesday's in Huntsville. You always got the Teriyaki chicken."
I just about fell over on the sidewalk. OMG... I haven't seen or thought of her since 2000. At the time, I was in grad school and would get out around 9:00 PM. I would always go by RT's in Madison Square Mall for something to eat before I went home on Tues and Thurs. Needless to say, we spent some time catching up. 5 years is a long time.
Andrea had the pix from the Alter Bridge concert on Tues. I gave her my email addy and asked her to scan in the pic of me and her and J-mo and send it to me. Cool.
Also, Hillary(?) got a job in 5308 [I had my badges out on the table.. long story]. She starts on Monday. She's working on the 3rd floor, and oddly, I spend some time on the 3rd floor.
S and M were coming down tonight from Nville... but hadn't left as of about 10:50 PM.
LJ called me on the way in from AU. Him and Roy were driving in to Decatur tonight. At 11:00 PM they were somewhere between Mont and Bham. Wow... it's goin to be a late night for them.
Quotables
Me: Ok, give me some love
Her: Ohhh... this is the first time we've exchanged love
Me: ...and certainly not the last

A Day To Remember....
let me assure you, today is not that day.
I did 100% absolutely nothing today. This morning, I was late for work.
When I finally got to work, my boss wanted to go in to corporate so we could get our pay check stubs. So I went with him. I learned this girl I went out with there has taken up smoking. Yuck! I'm like, I ain't kissin' no ashtray.
During lunch, I pulled a J-mo and went to Parisian's and then Chic-Fil-A with my boss... in Decatur. Turns out, there is this dude that I know who works there as a manager, and there was a cutie who took our order today, so I'm going to get the scoop and see if she's single. Needless to say, it was a long lunch today.
Got back to Huntsville, hung out for a bit, and then left.

Wepons of Mass Destruction (WMD), Iraq War
Does anyone else find the newsheadline this week a little disturbing?... saying the USA didn't find any Weapons of Mass Destruction in Iraq?
I know we have not found the mega glorious stockpile that everyone hoped we would (which is most likely in Syria now)... but we did find:
(1) Over 3 tons of partially enriched Uranium, which is enough to produce between 40 and 50 Hiroshima sized nuclear bombs.
(2) Several dozen Sarin (nerve gas) tipped warheads ready for launch
(3) Some 30 Iraqi jet fighters, perfectly wrapped up for protection and buried in the sand beneath the desert.
(4) Audio tapes of Iraqi Generals conferring on "how to get rid of the weapons before the US got there."
That's enough proof for me that something shady was going on before the US invaded Iraq in 2003. Regardless, the truth will come out in time as to what happens. How? Either (1) We will never be attacked by Iraq with any kind of WMD or (2) We will be attacked at a later date by WMD from Iraq. Only time will tell.
Is the world a safer place because we invaded Iraq and took Saddam Hussein out of power? I believe so. The people of Iraq, especially the women, have been freed from a tyrannical ruler. Rape Rooms and Torture Rooms have been shut down. The Iraqi people can now live as humans.
All we have to do now, is quell the militant uprising.... which is proving to be no easy task.
Social Security Reform
In other news, I urge everyone to continue to support the President's Social Security reform plan. It is clear the AARP has declared a war on the young people in our society. Those of us who are older, wiser, and currently investing our money into Roth IRA's, 401k's, SEP IRA's, 403b's, and other financial vehicles must educate the younger generation on the importance of wise financial planning.
Education and understanding is paramount in the success of our retirement system. Through this process, we can ensure that everyone who reaches old age can do so with dignity and respect. No one wants to be 65 and eating cans of Alpo. That's what will happen if immediate action is not taken.
Holiday
This weekend is the Martin Luther King jr. holiday weekend. I'm looking forward to having some time off from work. Let's remember, be nice to each other, no matter what race or nationality... that is unless said person is here illegally. We really need to close off our borders and put in place profiling. What do you think?

Too busy for anything
Things have been off the hook crazy lately. I've been slammed at work and had to work late (until 4 PM) on Monday and Tuesday. Also have a new marketing campaign underway for the video business, so that's taking up time as well.
Yesterday I met up with J-mo, Eric, Wendy, Kusi, and Lori for the Alter Bridge concert in Huntsville at the VBC South Hall. We had dinner at HOOTERS first. Heather was working and gave me the "What's up" routine. I forgot to ask where Katie was. Not that it matters.
The concert was pretty good. Ran into a couple people from the office. A lot of the Logan's staff was there. Andrea wanted a pic with the A-team (I guess we're just as famous as the former Creed band now)... so we did. I'll have to get that from her this weekend to post on here. Anyways, I finally rolled in around midnight... dead tired after standing for like 2.5 hours. Yes, standing. No seating. Then, I couldn't sleep becaue I was worried I wouldn't wake up and be late for work. But, I don't know why that was worrying me, since I haven't really been to work -on- time since my first 2 weeks as a new hire.
I learned today that, it turns out everyone in my office wants me to take this promotion/new job that I am supposedly about to be offered or something. That either means, they really have my best interest at heart, or they want me to get the *#@!out of their area. LOL Seriously, I will consider it, because my part of the Dept of Defense... has a zero budget after August 2004....
I stopped by Pride Home Entertainment today during lunch. I love that place. They have so much cool stuff there. I found a nice billiards table on sale for $2,400 that comes complete with a playing kit. That's tempting... if I had a place to put it. I also tried out more of those tempurpedic mattresses today. Those also run around $2,000. Something tells me I'd get more use out of that, than I would a pool table... but it is a tough call.

Dead.
Turns out, that's what an old friend of mine is. I found out today at lunch. He went in for ankle surgery last week. A blood clot formed, got loose and he was dead on Wednesday. That really sucks. He was in his late 30's.
That really got me to thinking, you never know when you're going to go. You'd better have all your stuff in order, spiritually and worldy. It was frickin' ankle surgery... no big whoop. But, yes, it turned into a big whoop.
A missing girl?
We're not sure if she's missing or not, but the girl on this webpage
http://www.kyleroot.com/travel/atlanta/atlanta.html may be missing. If you know Bobbie Cottingham from Moulton, AL please contact me. Surely out of the 300,000 hits I get a year on my main page, someone will know her.
The Plan
I got my 401K confirmation in the mail today from my employer. Sweet. Also I heard on the way home, it looks like things are really starting to shape up well for this battle over social security. I'm sure you get tired of hearing me rant on about it, but hey, it's very important to everyone.
Steve Vai and Evo
I decided against the $170.00 Evo Premium ticket that I wrote about yesterday. I'd rather spend that money on the next G3 concert.

Kyoto & the EVO experience.
Tonight I went over to J-mo's to work on some DVD stuff. Dana called and said they were all going to the new Kyoto Japanese restaurant in the Publix shopping center. (Close to where the Stein Mart is, that's going out of business)
We headed over there (pix below) for some ethnic food. As everyone discovered tonight, even though I am 1/2 Japanese, I don't like that type of food, and I also don't know how to eat with chop stix. Also, I don't like shrimp or scallops. It was a good time though.
Afterwards the A-team hit up Books A Million. Ran into that girl from Parisian's there. She was looking for some kind of financial thing to keep track of her money or something... I was like, "2 words: Microsoft Money." I could not live without that program! Anyways, I'm sure we'll probably see her tomorrow night at the Monday night River Oaks Mall gathering.
I forgot to mention that Ness called me the other night. He purchased the Evo Premium ticket to see Steve Vai at Boutwell Auditorium in March. The total price is $170.00. I love Steve and all... but man, shelling out $170.00 at this juncture may not be the best decision for me. Then again, it's a once in a life time opportunity... If I hadn't already seen him in 2003 at the G3 concert... I dunno I'm gonna sleep on it.
Thanks again to J-mo for burning me the -R DVD's.
I'm out. Peace.

Church went well today. I butchered the first song a little bit when I got the ending of it confused with the 3rd song in the set. Lovely. There seemed to be good crowd interaction today.
We had a huge crowd at Logan's: J-mo, Solita, Jack S., Michelle, Leah, Pam, Jack A., Kevin, Elizabeth, Eric, Me, and then 2 guys I don't remember their names, and 4 kids.
Jennifer J. was our waitress today. The big news is she got engaged on Christmas day! The other big news is, she'll be working on Wednesday nights now, so we can split up who we sit with: Jennifer on Wednesdays and Shanna on Thursdays. The last big news is, there were actually 4 people fired from Logan's last week... not just 1 person.
Well I've got to run to a bday party real quick for a neighbor, drop off some wedding video package info to a new client, get J-mo to help me with a video dupe thing, and then I guess there's a meeting at Kevin's later.
Another busy day!
Cranium Part II
Tonight was the absolute most fun I've had ... since last weekend.
After band practice I headed up to this party at Julia's house. I got there right at 6:00 PM and was the first person there. I thought I had gotten lost for a minute and almost had to call her, but I found it. She gave me the grand tour. Wow that is a nice house... 4 bedrooms, 2 living rooms, a huge kitchen, 3 car garage, and incredibly clean...and brand new.
Amber arrived next and then Kristin and then I lost track as the other 15 people arrived. By 7:00 PM everyone was there. It was a huge crowd. Everyone was single I think except for obviously Shane and Melody and Nick and Monica.
Everyone was so friendly. It was great to meet all these people. I made sure and go chat it up with the ladies. At one point this really cute blonde girl and her friend took a seat next to me on the sofa. I'm sure I had the "Wow you are really cute" look on my face. I busted out with, "Hi I'm Kyle, I don't think we've met yet."
Wow, that line works really well. We ended up having a really good chat. Her name was Rebecca and her friends name was Sissy. Anyways, she reminds me exactly of Mary Elizabeth Brogden. (Jeremy... remember when we met her in Tuscaloosa in 1998 at the BCM convention?... I know Lee remembers her... she's the girl that drove down from Bay Minette to see me during Spring Break 1999 when we were down there.) Absolutely smokin' hot.
The game of choice was obviously Cranium. We played for around 2.5 hours (4 teams of 4-5 people). Before hand, some were recounting their funniest Cranium moments... but I"ll tell you, none of them compared to the "Missionary" bit that Jeff did at the Lake House.
Whenever it came time to do a "Humdinger", Julia, Nick, Monica, Shane, and Melody would all bust out laughing, because we (Me, Melody, Monica, Van: Team Yellow) were making Van hum them... I was like, "Ok man, look at the girls when you hum these songs." It was absolutely hilarious.
The "Red" team was trying to guess the phrase, "Sea Kayak". So this dude is drawing like a ship and waves etc... one of the guys busts out with "Seaman". I dunno for some reason we all thought that was funny. Stop now and say it outloud, "Seaman".
I guess this is going to become a regular thing since when I was leaving Julia was like, "Hope to see you again next time." and I'm like, "You can count on it."
Ok I must get into bed now.
Nightly Funnies (or disturbing-ies)
Dude: So who do you work for?
Me: The Department of Defense.
Dude: I've never heard of that before.
Me: [thinking-...."Allrighty then"] - He seriously didn't know what it was.
Me: [Resume conversation with the girl on the couch]

12 hours later....
I'm awake.
Wow, I slept really good last night... 12 straight hours. It's days like this where I wish I was unemployed again.
Yesterday evening proved to be very interesting as usual. Jeff got into town around 9:15 PM and we hit up Wal-Mart and then made a run by Decatur General Hospital (almost sounds like it should be a TV show) to visit Kailyn and family. Poor kid was having a bad evening.
After watching the IQ test episode of Seinfeld, we ended up at Ruby Tuesdays with Lee, Roy, and Jason around 11:00 PM. There was no one there, but fortunately, they stay open until midnight, which is when we left.
A couple other notes.....
We all know that hospitals are known for being "clean", but last night I was wondering, "How clean is this place really?"
The original plan was to go to Applebee's. We walked in, Jeff looked at the seating chart. No one we knew was working, so we did a walk out. First time for one of those in a while...
Thought we saw Davina wearing pink scrubs at Parkway Medical Center outside smoking with 2 other women... will have to verify this tomorrow.

Crappy Chic-Fil-A
Do you ever eat there?
There are three Chic-Fil-A restaurants in close proximity to where I work and live (Huntsville/Decatur). I have eaten at all three for many years. My favorite menu item is the 8-pack of chicken nuggets.
In the past, chicken nuggets from all three locations were very similar in taste. If you’ve eaten at a Chic-Fil-A before, you know the signature taste to which I am referring.
Recently however, the taste of chicken nuggets from all three Chic-Fil-A locations have been vastly different, and not similar at all to the “classic” taste Chic-Fil-A customers are accustomed to. In fact, several times, the taste of the chicken nuggets has been what I would call “nasty”.
I’ve been noticing this for about the past 2 months. Has anyone else experienced this?
She Grossed Me Out
Yesterday, Sara gave blood at the Red Cross mobile unit. Where I work, if you give blood, you only have to work ½ a day. That’s pretty cool. Anyways, we were walking out on the way to lunch yesterday and she was telling me how they had to stick her arm like 3 times and something went wrong and blood was spurting…..
This morning I went down to see her and she showed me her arm where it happened…. GOOD LORD, it was black and blue and had like 3 red dots the size of a thumbtack head. I’d say the bruised area was maybe 2.5 inches in diameter. Wow. That is jacked up right there.
Excellence in Athletics
In a press release yesterday, the world learned the Michael Jordan is opening a new condo resort in Las Vegas. Spots in the condo start at $399,000. Does Michael Jordan still carry the name recognition he did 5 years ago?
Looking back over my younger years, I recall all the excitement I use to get from watching the Chicago Bulls play. I remember during the playoffs, after the game was over I would go outside and shoot for 2 hours at night. It was fun and extremely rewarding to practice the shots and moves of my hero. It was equally rewarding taking those moves to TC Almon and the Aquadome pretty much everyday during summer vacation. We would play basketball for 4 or 5 hours a day!
Who today can inspire such athletic motivation? Who today inspires motivation in anything? Are there any heroes out there?
I’ll give MJ this, he was ‘untarnished’ during his career. He was one of the good guys. That’s what made him popular, aside from his shear athletic talents.
I’m Moving!?!?
Or at least I thought I was. Yesterday, we learned that there were plans under way to move us to the building across the street. Today we went over there to see the new potential location. Let me say, my expression was, “FTS”. It would be a serious downgrade to where we work now. We all went in to our division chief and had a long talk and he’s agreed to let us stay in the office we are in.
If we were to have moved, I would have been highly not happy.
What is she trying to do?
Mother nature that is… get us all sick? We are having some major temperature swings here. In the span of 7 days we’ve had temps from the 40’s to 70’s. One day the high is 75. Next day, the high is 45. Seriously.

Long and Fast
My day consisted of two meetings, each of which lasted about 2 hours. It was agonizing. I was exhausted from not getting in bed until nearly 1:30 AM last night. The first thing I did when I got to the office this morning was take a 20 minute power nap. The day was long, but fortunately it went by fast.
After work I just sat around. Lee called and wanted to go to the gym, but I opted to pass out on the couch. I awoke around 7:00 PM. Surfed for a while and then went to the mall. I tm'ed Sarah, but no response... odd. Or, normal. Whichever. I almost called Tiff, but decided, "Eh".
Met up with Lee, Roy, and Bone at Logan's around 8:00 PM for dinner. Again. Yes, we ate there last night, but Lee wanted to go this time. I got there first and requested non-smoking. The waiter came and took my drink order: Water. About a minute later, this other waitress who knows me came over and this happened:
Her: "Why are you looking at me crazy?"
Me: "I'm not looking at you crazy... am I?"
[sits down beside me]
Her: "What is this? You never get water"
[snatches the glass off the table]
Me: "Well... I had to... you know..."
Her: [shakes her head and walks off, brings me back a sweet tea]
Ahhh good times. What does it mean when the wait staff at a restaurant knows what you're going to eat and drink before you order?
On an semi-related note, Sara and Shanna told me yesterday that I'm stuck in a rut. It's not a rut... it's a very disciplined schedule... That's just me. If you don't like it, just leave.... and obviously they typically do. I'm all about organizing, planning and developing alternatives. I can be spontaneous, but those occassions are being more and more infrequent. Good Lord, that must mean I'm getting old. Crap.
In other news, Lee is having difficulty with this game called Splinter Cell. I thought I might know a couple people who would know something about that game. J-mo only knew about the sequel, and Kevin didn't answer the phone. Guessing they must be tending to the sick child of theirs.
Anyways, I need to go to sleep because I think I have to be at work early... or rather... on time tomorrow for another meeting. We just hired a new manager and he wants to get to know all of his underlings or something.
Day 6 of 365 of the 2005 Saga has come to a close.

Good News!!
Tonight, I completed work on the Tennessee Valley Vipers 2004 Season Highlight DVD. I also put the 2003 reel that I made for them, as well as the Association for the United States Army (AUSA) promo I produced with them on this DVD. All that work... and the team no longer even exists... Bummer.
Also, I'm in the process of burning the Year in Review 2002 for Bishop Black DVD. Finally. LOL It's 45 minutes long and contains a lot of behind the scenes footage that most fans don't get to see... or all fans get to see. Whichever. Anyways, I'm trying to time this video release with their CD release here... even though they don't know it yet. LOL I guess I'd better talk to them sometime.
On an unrelated note, I was at the other studio yesterday evening, and my buddies (i'm joking) from the Decatur death metal band Stonegate were in there doing a session with Dave. They are apparently good friends with another popular death metal band based in Decatur that goes by the name of Muddle. Their bass player lives down the street from my parents. Anyways, Dave mentioned something about an Einstein reunion tour. This is going to be interesting.
Bedtime.

Loss
This is rare for me, but I am at a complete loss for words right now.
That means, it's time to play some guitar.
That means, it's time to play some guitar.
IJust kidding
I was only kidding in my last post. There is no way I could rehash all the cool stuff I was involved in in '04. The top highlights are (in order of occurence):
-- Playing in the band Einstein
-- The Lake House Trip and TaTa
-- The WPBA trip to Tunica
-- Getting a new job that I love
-- Working with the Vipers again
-- Playing in the band Blind Bart at Riverfest
-- Christmas shopping for everyone, and the 2 kids.
-- Sara baking me a birthday cake
-- Spending New Year's with my good friends
(Who also threw me a bday party)
Today I was part of a very weird conversation...
21-year old girl: Sometimes I think I should date older men...
Me: Nah... don't be ridiculus. Ok I'm going back to work now, Cya.

Back to Social Insecurity
I'm sure everyone has heard about it... it's the top news story again today. It looks like 4% may be the magic number in regards to how much we can put into a private retirement account.
I ran some numbers: $100/mo for 40 years @12% = $1.1 million.
Does that make you happy? It better. Your future depends on it.
Support this bill. It has a proven track record in other countries (and Galvaston Tx?) where it has been implemented. You certainly don't have anything to lose. For those of us in our 30's or younger... we're going to be on our own retirement plan by age 65 anyway.
Tsunami
I want to talk a bit on this topic about "how little" the US was going to send at first. This is because, people who are making that argument do not have any understanding of how these relief efforts work. Some big-wig lady called into Sean Hannity today, and just could not understand... Good Lord help us.
It's not like this happened here. It happened in a region 1/2 a world away that does not have a good infrastructure and is not as technologically advanced as us. It stands to reason it would take 24-48 hours to determine the amount of aid necessary. Immediately after the disaster Powell was on the phone saying the USA would do whatever was necessary... and we have. $350 million from the government.. and $200 million so far in private cash. As the totality of the devastation was learned, efforts were increased in proportion.
It's more than money though. It's our ships, aircraft, volunteer orgs, and various subject matter experts (engineers, doctors, etc) whom we've sent over there. Without question we have a leading contingent in many technological areas, and this can not be overlooked.
I'm sure everyone has heard of the stories about people having to make a choice between saving a loved one and saving a stranger... or the one where the lady was holding 2 children and had to let one go in order to save herself and the infant... those are truly heart wrenching.
All I did today was listen to the radio... all day... the stories of survival are amazing.
Did God Do It?
I've heard a lot of talk on if this was tsunami was God's doing... punishing the muslim's over there for their terrorism. It seems there are A LOT of people out there who believe this.
Me? I'm not sure....
Life On Mars
Tonight I saw the most incredible show on Alabama Public Television. It was a documentary on the NASA Mars Rover missions. They have found a mineral associated with water... where there is water, there may be life...
Can you imagine the magnitude of such a discovery as life on Mars??
How would that affect the world as we know it??
Conclusion
Open your mind and be cognizant of what's going on in the world around you. Think. Do not blindly accept what others say as fact. My friends, reason for yourself and you will come to a higher level of understanding.

420 miles, Beat Your Kids... PLEASE.
That's how much we drove over the weekend. Wow!
I took off work today because my sleep schedule is all messed up. Sara TM'ed me asking where I was around 9:30 AM. I didn't get up until 11:00 AM when J-mo called to inquire about the status of the earpieces for my E5's.
Finished up my part of the Nutcracker video and then ran errands all afternoon. Stopped by the studio around 4:00 PM to alert JS about my recent hardware acquisition. There was a Christian Death Metal band in there recording. It was funny, the vocalist had an extremely effiminate (sp) voice when talking, but when 'singing' it was all "RAHHHHHHH" and deep. You know what I mean?
After that I went to the gym. It wasn't overly packed out, which was a bit surprizing since it is the New Year and all that. I ran by Tag's house to get his portion of the dance video. J-mo called and said they were at The Guad so I spun by there around 6:45 PM for a beef enchilada.
As I got ready to pay my tab, Kailyn raised her arms and wanted me to carry her. I was holding her with my right arm, and managed to sign my ticket with my right hand as well, while holding her. Not too shabby. The ladies were impressed. I guess I'm a natural. I need to work on getting one myself... however, I only want one if it's as well behaved as Kailyn is. (More on this in a minute)**
Walked around. No good sales. I believe they start on Jan 13th.... Ran into Tiff at Praisian's and she was like, "Call me on some other night besides Monday because it's ladies night out for us." I'm thinking, "Sure it is... I've heard that before" Came home and right now, I'm watching the AU VT game. Great game!
**Ok, about young children and such. I met this girl over the weekend who had like a 3 year old son. She was a single mother. The child was incredibly 'whiny'. When it would reach for an object, like a cell phone, that it wanted to play with, she would take it away and he would begin crying and throwing a tantrum. Immediately I could tell she was "one of those mothers" who doesn't beat her kids.
I'll tell you what, beating kids works. I have 2 friends that have kids and whenever they do that nonsense, they get a spanking, and the nonsense stops right there, and the kid behaves.
This brings up the whole question of single mothers, and the lack of a man in the household. I don't want to get into that right now.
I'll just say, if you're kids are acting up. For the love of Pete, discipline them. It's not "Cute" or "funny" when they behave that way in public.

It's good to be home
...turned out to be a much longer weekend than any of us had anticipated. Finally got back into Decatur at 2:00 AM this morning.
Friday Night
Consisted of dinner at Famous Dave's BBQ. Then it was off to the Opryland Hotel. After that a trip downtown to Coyote Ugly, Tootsie's, and then back to Shane's house. Finally at like 3:00 AM we met up with more people and headed to Murfreesboro to sleep... got to bed at 5:30 AM.
Saturday Morning
Woke up around 11:00 AM. I was going to cook some breakfast, but there were no eggs, sausage, bacon, or anything in the fridge... so instead of that, we had like Krispy Kreme donuts and chocolate milk from the local gas station.
Then it was off to Shane's. Played his new dart game, went downtown to BB King's restaurant for a free lunch courtesy of a $25 coupon shane had. Then Buffalo Billiards and babies R us for some stuff.
Got back to their house around 6:30. Ended up having a huge group playing Cranium and some other word game. It was a lot of fun... some caught on video... unlike the first Cranium game at the lake house which had without question the funniest moment of all time.
Flashback
The clue was "Person" and you had to like charade it... it was guys vs. girls.
Melody and Jeff were the actors.
Melody is kneeling and praying and like making a cross or something. So Tammy is yelling out things like, "Preacher, God, Priest etc"
Jeff starts acting like he's humping the floor or something. So Shane and I yelling out things like, "Porn star, Ron Jeremy, etc"
Finally, I put 2 and 2 together and yelled out, "Missionary!"
To see that... and hear how it all transpired was absolutely the funniest thing ever. We played Cranium for nearly 4 hours that night. And I'm not even exaggerating.

I can not wait to see what this year holds in store. I hope it's something good!
